Dear Mark,
Natalie has told me some people have been accusing you of doctoring the World Trade Center photo. As a journalist concerned with ethics, I know damn well you didn't doctor the photo--it is absurd. People in times like these jump to knee-jerk conclusions, and want to lash out at someone--anyone. I'm sorry that in this case it had to be you, and hope you can ride it out with the knowledge that sensible people will put this to right.
You may remember that we met, some years ago, one night when we were all out together with Nat and Corky.
I wish you the best of luck.
Kind regards, John Wicklein
