As the photographer at the forefront of a controversy, I find it amazing that NO ONE in the media writing about it has bothered to talk to me about this image and give me the opportunity to defend my reputation. I would never "doctor" an image. The "face of the devil" occurred. I sold this image to the AP for one time use prior to knowing it contained anything beside the twin towers burning. I transmitted this photo only minutes after it was shot. As a photographer for three newspapers, The Associated Press and Agence France-Presse, I am amazed that anyone could call my reputation into question. I was inundated with email through my company website, http://www.stellarimages.com, to the point where I had to put up an open letter bringing everyone back to the fact that it is a photograph, not a religious or moral statement. Everyone has to look at this photograph and decide on their own what it shows. AP is making statements about the photograph, without talking to me or defending me. Vin Alabiso has not returned my phone calls. I stand by my reputation of 25 years. I am no longer in the "news" business, starting an Internet company in 1994, but everyone I have worked with in the news industry knows the high standards I maintain. It was in smoke and I watched it as it rolled up out of sight. So shocked, I told my husband "look, there if a face" He too saw it. The face was pleasant. I have never gotten over seeing it. Dear Mr. Phillips, Before we had seen your picture, last week my husband's friend at work was on the CNN website and watched a video of the 2nd plane hitting the tower and he saw satan's face rise up out of the smoke and paused the picture at that moment. We had sent that email to our friends so we know you did not doctor that photo. Remember there is a God, and He is BIGGER than Satan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) There is a spiritual world and I believe that satan is showing his face because he knows his time is short and he knows that Jesus is coming soon so I think that this is one of his desperate attempts to try and make himself look great before he is thrown into the bottomless pit. The smoke did not make this face, I believe that you somehow fixed it to look like that. If you look at the pic closer you would see, Elvis, or even Oz him self.However the only mark that satan or Jesus puts in the world are in the individuals heart. so I am not buying the fact that the smoke created your image. My mother was watching a Spanish news station (Television 47) a few days after the attack. A Columbian gentlemen showed a picture taken in Columbia displaying Satan.
