But I would like to make mention to the face of Christ in this picture as well. In the Bible in the book of Daniel there is a story of 3 men thrown into a fire. I have seen the pics of the devil in the towers, and I have to say that when I first saw the pictures, THEY SCARED THE LIVING S*** OUT OF ME. But, these photos gave me some hope. Working from the sayings of the great John Lennon, I believe that, no matter what, each and every person should love one another, so we can achieve world peace. Now an entire race is hated by all because of one or two people's follies. It wasn't the entire race. Now, instead of looking for another reason to hate, we can blame the crashes on the one evil being that would love to see this happen...who would love to welcome the murderers of thousands of people. I truly believe that this picture is for real, and because of my beliefs about peace, I am eternally grateful that you took this picture, because it gives us a reason not to hate, but to look at not humans but the real power behind evil. I've been in the business for a while and I can see that that shot was NOT doctored. I'm still a member of the NPPA and I get the NPPA-L and saw your comments. Phillips who photographed the widely seen image of the WTC smoke with a supposed face. We have just read your column for the Poynter Institute and take exception with the doubtful tone in which you state the facts regarding this situation. As a picture professional for 20 years and a colleague of this photographer for almost half that time, I categorically assure you and any other interested parties the Mr. Phillips integrity has and is beyond any question. This is especially true in regards to his photographic work. Honored with numerous prizes for his journalism, he has the complete backing of authenticity by the Associated Press in this and any other assignment he has completed for them over many years. Whether viewers tend to see something in this or any of his photographs, casting doubt, through language, upon his honesty is completely inappropriate. The smallest amount of research about this master photographer would glean his long-standing reputation for professional honestly at all times. For many years I was the director of the Associated Press photo library and remember speaking with you often. As you can imagine, I have a well-rounded view of this situation and feet I must protect my clients reputation. It has only heightened my business efforts by being associated with such an individual.
