<text>hey doctor.

i don't even know what to say. it's so awful, shocking, frightening. i woke up this morning to someone on npr talking about the pentagon being hit, then heard about the wtc, and finally woke up enough to turn on the tv as i began to think the whole country was being attacked. i spent about 3 hours watching all the various confused coverage. i must have seen the footage of that second plane's impact and then the collapsing first tower 50 times at least. finally i came into work, and it was weird to see the city going about its business. watching tv it had seemed much more immediate, so getting out of the house was probably a good idea. people are freaked out, of course, and schools and some businesses are closed, but for the most part things are going on as usual. i can't even imagine how it must feel to be in manhattan now, how traumatized the entire populace must be. it's really amazing to think how quickly everything can change. what other circumstances could paralyze the entire country this way (air travel shut down completely, stock market closed)?

almost as frightening is the possible aftermath. the bush people will want to find whoever's responsible immediately - and, failing that, somebody who can reasonably take the blame - and bomb them off the map. violence must, after all, be met with violence. they'll need a scapegoat fairly quickly. already i have heard a republican congressman telling us to forget about spending for education and healthcare because that money should be going toward the military. in some obvious ways, this situation plays into the hands of the military-industrial complex, and the clownish politicians who represent their interests. the only political presence i saw who wasn't spouting rhetoric and vowing to "get the bastards who did this" was rudy giuliani; he was of course indignant, but admirably poised and reassuring, and focused on rescue efforts. truthfully i would like to be able to get behind bush and co. - and if osama bin laden turns out to be responsible, well, if you're going to obliterate a government it might as well be the taliban - but the whole thing seems like an endless cycle of brutality.

it's all so sad, and it gets sadder as the day goes on, as the whole thing becomes more real, less surreal. i'm sorry you have to be there, amid all the horror and confusion. i hope that you take good care of yourself.

love,
pete

pete,

it is so amazingly unsettled in the city today. i walked out this morning right after the first crash and saw the second plane hit the other tower of the trade center. i have a full view of the buildings from my corner and watched them for a long time. the streets were full of people. i have never seen anything like it in my life.

now, it is so unreal to look downtown and see smoke and debris in the air rather than the two buildings. the whole city, except for rescue services, has stopped. i am at the hospital and no one is working in the auxiliary service areas. the er area is lined up with ambulances.

i went back over to my apartment which is near st. vincent's hospital, which is the trauma center for the lower part of manhattan. the scene there looks like a war zone. sixth and seventh avenues are closed except for emercency services. there has been a constant sound of sirens since right after 9 am. it is such a sad day for us all.

it is unbelievable to think that we are no longer safe. i think we should not allow any people into our country except for u.s. ciizens, at least for some period of time. the city is on full emergency alert with all bridges, tunnels, and subways closed into the city. just a few outlets out of the city are open and the city is emptying out...feels so weird.

and just think, we have bush trying to figure this out and make decisions for us. what a frightful idea. he is SUCH a fool.

anyway, i am sad and in shock. hope you are well.

xor

Happy Birthday! I'm sorry that your day had to fall on the tragic event that just happened in NY. I couldn't believe the news this morning. I am so saddened by the loss of life.

I'll try and call you later today. The news broadcast said all the phone lines are tied up going into NY, but I'll see if I can get through about 2 or 3 o'clock this afternoon my time, which will be 5pm your time. Hope I can get through. If not, I'll email you.

I love you Robyn and think of you often,

I WAS STANDING IN LINE FOR COFFEE WHEN A MAN CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AN SAID THAT A PLANE HAD JUST CRASHED INTO THE WORLD TRADE CENTER. EVERYONE LOOKED AT HIM LIKE HE WAS CRAZY. ALL HE KEPT SAYING WAS "OH MY GOD A PLANE JUST HIT THE WORLD TRADE OH MY GOD I DON'T BELIEVE IT". AFTER I GOT MY COFFEE I WAS WALKING TO WORK WHEN I BUMP INTO A CO-WORKER. I TOLD HIM WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. HE TO COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. ONCE UPSTAIRS I TOLD EVERYONE ELSE. THEN WE TURNED ON THE T.V. AND ALL OUR FEARS WERE CONFIRMED. EVERYTHING AFTER THAT HAPPENED SO FAST. NEXT THING YOU KNOW EVERYONE WAS EVACUATED. I STAYED A LITTLE WHILE WATCHING THE EVENTS ON T.V. AFTER THE FIRST BIULDING WENT DOWN I DECIDED TO GET OUT THE BUILDING. BUT, LIKE ALOT OF PEOPLE, I DIDN'T GO HOME. I WENT STAIGHT DOWNTOWN. I VOLUNTEERED MY SERVICES BECAUSE I KNEW THAT I WOULD BE NEEDED TO HELP RESCUE PEOPLE. MORE IMPORTANT I NEEDED TO HELP. WITHIN MINUTES I WAS CHOSEN TO HELP SETUP A MAKESHIFT HOSPITAL AT STYVENCENT HIGH SCHOOL TO AWAIT THE INJURED. BUT NO ONE CAME. THERE WERE NO INJURED ANYMORE. FOR HOURS ALL WE DID WAS WASH OUT EYES WITH SALINE SOLUTION. A NURSE RECRUITED US TO GO INTO GROUND ZERO TO CLEAN OUT THE FIREMEN,POLICE AND RECOVERY WORKERS EYES. I NEVER IN MY LIFE EVEN IMAGINE THAT I WOULD WITNESS SUCH DEVASTATION. AFTER A WHILE I FINALLY TOOK A GOOD LOOK AT MY SURROUNDINGS. I BROKE DOWN AND CRIED. TO THIS VERY DAY I STILL CRY. TWO INDIVIDUAL THAT A KNEW ARE GONE. ONE NEVER TO BE FOUND AGAIN. WITH ALL THE HURT THAT I FEEL, I ALSO FEEL LOTS OF ANGER.</text>

Thank you for the nice email. Good to hear that you are doing well, as I was worried after what happened yesterday. Fortunately Kaveesh is also doing fine, I phoned him yesterday. Your country is going through one of the worst
nightmares in history and let me first of all say that we here in Europe all have our thoughts with those Americans that have lost their lives and those that stay behind. All newsstations are broadcasting the tragedy in NY and WC.
I just heard the news that a Kashmir groop has said it is behind the tragedy, but they are not sure if this is true. Your president gives interviews like he is giving a talk at university. Not much feeling in his words.

With love, Ronald.</text>

We hear that trains are moving out. So I'm trying for the 1:07 to come home.

well give me phone numbers to where you will be if you can. But if you can get out, get out. There are 9 planes unaccounted for and one of them is circling Washington.

Cellular phones don't work here anymore. Everyone in New York City who has one is using it.

I let Grandma know in case she can't get ahold of me. Anita Kemper has volunteered her apartment if we have to stay here - but I'm with you - I want to get out of this town!!!

Yeah understood. Call my cell phone if you need to contact me, looks like they are going to clear out the building here but for future reference it is 860-8xx-0xxx and I have been spending time with everyone else in different parts of the building watching TV. And although it may seem like your phones work that is simply a temporary thing. The two main phone switches (info courtesy of Dad) were in those two towers, one in each handling millions calls /day each. Just as soon as you hear it's clear get out of there. Take Amtrak out of Penn Central or something.

You can't leave the city. Everything is at a standstill - can't come in
or go out. I was almost going to give it a try, but then got the update. Anyways, I'd rather wait until Grand Central has been thoroughly checked (with bomb-sniffing dogs) before trying there. It's another prime target.
You may not see me tonight - we'll see how the day goes. Let me have your
number at work (I changed pocketbooks and left your card home).

Love, Mom

P.S. The other World Trade Center building went down. One of the planes they hijacked was an American Airlines from Boston to Los Angelos. I heard the second was US Air from Chicago. Sickening isn't it - first thing I thought of was you recently flying around up there.

Wouldn't it be a good plan to take a "personal"day?

...a third plan took off fast from LaGuardia in the no fly zone and the military are chasing after it. Just heard that the Pentagon in Washington was also on fire.

If I don't make it home, the will I have leave everything to you. Don't worry, I'll probably be OK unless they decide to hit Rockefeller Center - then it will get ugly.

...I was walking down 5th Avenue and everyone was turning around looking towards the Empire State Building. I saw a very tall building with smoke coming out. It turns out to be the World Trade Center. A plane hit it and
then another plan hit the other World Trade Center building. Guess we are
back to dealing with terrorism in NYC. Rumors are flying that they are
going to hit us in the streets. Let me know if you hear anything. I'm
"safe" in my building on 6th Avenue you (on the 14th floor).

              <text>Heidi,
Thanks for thinking of us. Everyone here is OK.....that I know of.......not many people are here today...I haven't seen David...

I didn't come in yesterday, but I witnessed the entire event from my apartment on the 29th floor. I had just taken my daughter to school and while I was outside I heard the first plane coming down the island traveling very low. I went inside to my apartment to find the WTC in flames and then fall down. Today I'm at ADARC but there is a smell here from the collapse and wreckage that can't be mistaken.

I'm ok.
I felt the first blast from my desk on World Trade 2, 33rd floor and saw the debris rain past my window. I was able to evacuate the building before the second plane hit my building. I am hopeful for my friends and coworkers.
I am thankful for my luck, sorrowful for the victims, and enraged against our attackers.
With much love,

I can't call out of state the phone lines are all busy. The people who commute to work are all stuck in the city. Subways, trains, bridges, tunnels etc are all closed going out of the city. And no one can get in. Dan was outside he said its impossible to get a cab. They found one and shared it with a few people going uptown. He's in the 50's and will have to walk home.

I'll keep you updated.

Subject: You OK?
Date:Sept 12

Just checking to see if everything is ok. I know you work in the city, but I am praying that it wasn't in or near the WTC. Also, how is Steve doing? I don't recall the airline he works for, but he's probably been pretty shaken by the events. Keeping you both in my prayers.

Subject: Re: You OK?
Date: Sept 17

Hi Guys.
Thanks for checking in. Steve and I are both fine. Steve was flying over the Atlantic when it happened and he was diverted to Canada. He is not back yet, but hopefully today he will be home. I work about 20 blocks away and was walking to work when I saw the second plane hit (though at the time I did not really comprehend what I was seeing.)

I am a bit shaken and have had a difficult time being alone. I was supposed to go to work on Thursday and Friday, but couldn't get myself to get on the train. I think I will be better when I actually see Steve again, but I have a general sense of queasiness being in the city and I am shaky. I was too close and saw too much. Plus I had the added panic of Steve flying a 767 at the time and didn't hear that he was ok until 1 am the next morning. It has been a bad few days and I have retreated to my parents house often.

The sounds of the day are what have stuck with me -- sirens, jets, screams, people on the streets running, but not knowing what they were running from or where they were running to. It was really scary to be here. I think it will just take some time to get over all that.

But compared to many, I am fine.

I am wondering if anyone heard form Emilio? He works downtown.

Peace my friends.

Subject: New York Trip--Part 4

As I near the end of these memories of a fateful week in New York, I think a few observations about terrorism might be in order. By undertaking to speak on this subject,I claim no particular expertise. Certainly, the week in New York only showed me terrorism's ugly face; it did not show me the mind or the heart of this evil thing. My only perspective is history. This is the way I spent my career and my thinking is automatically attuned to seek historic precedents. That's what I do. History can be the greatest of comforts in that it assures you that you are not alone in the great scheme of things. Man has been through tragedy and disaster and despair before, and will be again. But history has a cold-bloodied side; it does not assure you that things are going to turn out right, because man is prone not to learn from history and is prone to the same mistakes over and over.

History would assure you that terrorism is no new thing. It has been around as long as there has been organized society. Its aim has generally been to destroy organized government and replace it with some other system (usually worse) or to do away with government at all (anarchy). Its most common form has been political assassination which sought to weaken government by making it unsafe to be a government official. Some periods have been more prone to political violence than others but history would say that the potential for terrorism has been and always will be a constant.

The period from the assassination of Lincoln in 1865 to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand of Austria in July 1914, the event that precipitated World War I, is often known as the heyday for assassins. Governments found it almost impossible to stop a committed fanatic, who did not mind surrendering his own life for the cause, from perpetrating his assigned task. Further, if those assassins had support from some organized state they were doubly, or a hundred times more dangerous. Such was the case with Serbia's support of the Black Hand terrorists in the Balkans. Gavrillo Prinzcip, who murdered Franz Ferdinand and his wife, was a member of that organization. When states become involved in terrorism a single act can lead to the involvement of not just that state but all their friends and foes alike. That was the dilemma that led to World War I.

Terrorists have always been there, it is almost impossible to stop them, and it is particularly grievous when organized states lend support to the terrorist cause. In a way this simple set of ideas sums up our terrible dilemma today. Can we target one terrorist without involving the state in which he hides, thus finding ourselves at war with that state and perhaps with all the states that lend support? Put simply: can we roust out Osama bin Laden without going to war with Afghanistan and perhaps with much of the Islamic world? History would say that this is a particularly slippery slope.

To declare "war on terrorism" is fraught with difficulty, according to some lessons from our recent history. The more indistinct the enemy in a war, the more protracted will be the struggle and, generally, the less decisive will be the result. We declared "war on poverty" and "war on drugs" and both of those phenomena are still with us and the fight has been a long and costly one. Vietnam certainly illustrates the danger of a war without clearly demarked goals and with a somewhat faceless enemy. That war was lost, not on the battlefield--we won all the battles--but in the hearts and minds of the people of the United States. We did not have the staying power that would hold us through a protracted struggle without a clearly stated goal in mind. We did not stay the course.

Will we have stomach enough to wage this war on terrorism with some of the same problems we encountered in Vietnam? Russia lost a war in Afghanistan and in the process 15,000 of her soldiers were killed. Are we ready for those numbers? The Gulf war was more to our liking; quick, technological, get in-get out and all on TV. President Bush assures us this will be a long and bitter war. Are we ready? Will our allies stay hitched? Some of them seem to be waffling on us already. President Bush says you are with us or against us. Are we ready when they opt out and we find ourselves alone or nearly so?

This all sounds terribly pessimistic. History's lessons in the area of terrorism are terribly pessimistic. Can we afford to do nothing? Can President Bush afford to do what was called the Wilson Tango when that president was struggling with the deterioration of the Mexican government during its revolutionary period: one step forward, two steps back, a side-step, and a moment of hesitation. I think we all know that the answer is "No!"

But what to do. My reaction in New York was, I suspect, that of most of the people we saw and, I suspect further, the reaction of most Americans: lets bomb "them" out. But then the question arises as to who "them" is. The frustration of trying to get a "them" clearly in the crosshairs is almost overwhelming. We can make bin Laden the target of our anger and outrage as we did with Pancho Villa when he attacked Columbus, New Mexico, March 9, 1916. We sent 11,000 men in pursuit of Pancho and did not catch him. Can we catch bin Laden?

During World War I, a reporter asked Will Rogers if he could suggest a solution to the German submarine menace that so threatened American shipping. "Certainly,"said the great comedian,"all you have to do is boil the ocean." When the reporter objected, Rogers pointed out that he had been asked for a solution, not a method. Our solution is a simple one: all we have to do is make bin Laden and all terrorists persona non grata everywhere in the world. How does President Bush boil this particular ocean? As he has pointed out, it will take time and it will take sacrifice. It cannot be accomplished by the military alone. It is going to take a massive diplomatic initiative. It is going to take financial pressure on the sources of funds that support terrorism. Above all it is going to take a people united enough to stay the course. It is in this last area that my pessimism once again surfaces: Americans have not shown that kind of stomach since World War II.

The point just made gets at something we must not lose sight of. The real target of the World Trade Center attack was not those two towers. It was an attack on us, on our values, and it was an attack that assumed we would not defend those values. It assumed that we would turn in on ourselves and be like Saturn devouring his own children. Democracy is worth defending but only if we defend all of its ideals. To win this war and lose our civil liberties is to lose this war. Pat Oliphant had a masterful political cartoon in a recent edition of the New York Times. It shows a powerful Uncle Sam with a long and terrible sword in hand ready to swing. In the background is the figure of a small boy marked civil rights and waving an American flag. Uncle Sam is saying, "Watch out for the backswing, kid." That says it all. We must gear up for a war, even one with indistinct goals and a lack of clear method, and yet at the same time preserve the civil rights and the freedoms guaranteed us by our founding documents.

We must guard against the desire to insure our security to the extent that we harm others. It bothers me that a professor at NMSU--a Hindu--has been attacked twice by some cowardly person on campus. It bothers me that a professor at UNM who made a patently stupid remark about the Pentagon should have his job threatened. He has the right under our system to be a craven jerk. We must protect those in our society who choose to exercise their basic freedoms, even if we think them dangerous.

If we let the terrorists take our basic freedoms away from us, they win.</text>

x, please forward this to xif he is not on this list.

x,

I agree with most of what you are saying. I do want to add that this event
and the course of events to come brings us into a larger field of light from
where we can move forward as individuals together. When an event of such
magnitude can bring a people together, a world together for a common cause
of life preservation (somewhat under the guise of retaliation) it is for the
better and we do change, we are different. I agree that we tend to drift
off into a numbness, but when we are awoken, we are changed. Changing for
the better.

In the lack of a Piazza or town square, a local place were we come together
as a large group, Television, as unfortunate as it may seem has a way of
substituting for those places.

In New York City, you have town squares even though not all of you may use
them. In L.A. sadly we lack a place where people can come together for the
most part. The opportunity that New York has especially and the world has
to move forward through this time to a place of extremely higher
consciousness is palpable. You can reach out and grab the feeling, it is in
the air, it is tangible, and it is even more evident when you see a person
not understand how palpable it is. When that happens it is the place for
those who do see to help bring people to this greater understanding.

It is most important for all of us to remember to breathe. For breath is
the intake and the out take for which we as a race communicate. It shares
our feelings with one another and lets us release what is inside of us, be
it anger, love, compassion, fear or numbness. I urge you all to breathe and
look each other in the eyes in this time of change for only then will we
truly move on to the place that we need to.

When you next look at your best friend, your lover, your partner, breathe in
and out and let go. Then try and do it with each one of your friends, then
with strangers and soon we will see the difference as we truly speak to one
another.

Love,

x

I'm glad to here that Alex is fine.

Just to let you know that Sarah and I (and here mum bill and sister and my mum and dad) are thinking of you both.

Please pass on our regards to him.

Take care

<text>yes, fine. my office faces the empire state building. we evacuated at 10:00. got on a train out of the city at 2, got home at 4. my brother in law, john (amy's sister debbie's husband), was in his office on the 87th floor of tower 1 at world trade ctr. he and his partner carried a handicapped woman down 80 floors and they got out of the building 10 minutes before it collapsed. he ran all the way to chinatown, then walked uptown and met me before we got on the train. thank god!

thanks for thinking of me.

              <text>Hi Cali:

You made some excellent points in your comments. Be
patient and take care of yourself (eating/sleeping and
not seeing the news so much). Everything will fall in
place slowly. It is always good to help others.

You know that those people who suffered the most are
the real teachers for all of us?. They are brave and
wise enough to know the lessons that need to be
brought forth deep in their souls even though they as
people may not know it. They are perfect mirrors.
Thanks for letting me know about grandma. Her brain is
still swolen up so is pressing in some areas where
perhaps the memory is. Exhasution is common with
strokes as well as depression. She will gain function
bach, how much it is hard to tell. Iam glad she did
not loose her speech. Please find those
numbers/addresses I will send something or call her.
TAKE CARE!!!!!and I am glad your friends are OK.
Fatima is desvastated, OK the Brandts are fine from
that area.
Keep in touch. Mom

ps: Appreciate every moment you have with people like
your boss....every moment is the last moment we can be
nice to others (that does n't mean we can not be angry
on occasion!).
I am going to Burbank this week end to bring my things
from storage.

Rumors now that trains are running out of Penn Station. I think I'll try for that. I'm a litlle hesitant to leave and throw myself on the mercy of Manhattan streets, but I'm getting no closer to home sitting here. Again, if I can get an open line I'll call.

> Feel free if this small story can help people appreciate the magnitude of
> this event. Not that anyone needs such a lesson, and in no way am I trying
> to downplay others, but this has really hit especially hard around here,
due
> to the proximity. Unfortunately, we're now receiving some word of others
> that are still missing and presumed dead. People I couldn't necessarily
call
> friends, but people I know, nonetheless.

>
> >
> > Just wanted all to know that I'm okay as well as family. However, I
> thought
> > I'd share some stories that probably won't make the news by you guys. To
> > anyone on this list that I don't know, and don't wish to be bothered by
> > this, I apologize.
> >
> > After the second plane hit, my brother-in-law (Jack) left his building
> with
> > the rest of the office. They were across the street from the towers.
Most
> of
> > his co-workers went west, but he went east towards the ferry. He figured
> he
> > would call my sister quickly, before the phone lines got messed up.
While
> > talking to her, he began to sob and repeated "Oh my God" several times.
He
> > then relayed that while on the phone, he began to hear a series of
'thuds'
> > and watched as about 1/2 dozen people fell to their deaths around him.
> > People who had jumped to escape the fires. He noticed what appeared to
be
> a
> > freelance photographer taking pictures of this macabre scene and was
> > abruptly roughed up by two of NY's finest. He began to run and at one
> point
> > had to run around one of the airplane's tires. Within a few minutes of
> > boarding what was to be the last ferry out, the first tower collapsed.
He
> > made it by minutes as he pointed out on the tv where he had been
standing
> > while talking to my sister. There was nothing left.
> >
> > My friend Dom wasn't as fortunate as to getting off the island. He was a
> few
> > blocks away at the time of the first collapse, as they were already
being
> > evacuated. He hears loud rumbling, and the ground shook like that of an
> > earthquake. Upon turing around he sees this massive wall of smoke,
> hundreds
> > of feet high heading right towards him. He ran, but of course couldn't
out
> > run it. The smoke and debris was choking, but was confronted with hot
dog
> > vendors and what-not, giving all their water & soda away. They didn't
run,
> > but stayed to hand out beverages. I suppose to perhaps follow that fine
> > example, Dom stopped running and began assisting others in making it to
> > safety. One image that he can't seem to erase is that of an elderly
> couple,
> > unable to run very fast, looking horrified as the wall of smoke overcame
> > them. He tried to run back to help them, but couldn't find them amongst
> the
> > smoke and chaos. He finally got home around 8:00pm.
> >
> > I was thrilled to learn of Jack and Dom's safety, but had a new concern.
> > Another very close friend (Bill) is a medical chief for UMDNJ, in
Newark.
> He
> > had to rush in while everyone else rushes out. Within ten minutes of
being
> > on scene, another collapse totals his chief's vehicle, but he was able
to
> > run away fast enough to escape injury. For a guy who can never shutup,
he
> is
> > utterly speechless concerning the wreckage.
> >
> > I do find it amazing how well people come together in times like these.
> > Since all trains and ferries stopped, many people literally walked
across
> > the George Washington Bridge to get to NJ. It was at this time that
> barges,
> > fishing boats, private vessels, and even a guy in a friggin row boat,
> began
> > to shuffle people across the river to NJ. Bill even told me a story of a
> > vehicle that pulled up near the scene. They were shouting at him,
> wondering
> > how in the hell this guy got through. An ATF agent emerged and said it
was
> > okay. He was a deliveryman for a pizzaria in NJ, who decided to deliver
> > twenty pizzas to help feed the rescue teams.
> >
> > Some rather miraculous stories are emerging as well. Thankfully, three
> > police officers have been found alive amid the rubble. They were located
> by
> > them firing their guns to be heard. One man, called 911 from his cell
> phone
> > to report that he was alive but trapped. They eventually triangulated
his
> > signal and were able to free him. Most amazingy, is the report of a man
> who
> > was in one of the towers on I think the 84th floor. When the building
> > collapsed, he rode that rubble all the way down and only broke his leg.
> >
> > There is some speculation that a bomb may have been detonated just prior
> to
> > the first plane crash. A friend of my other brother-in-law exited the
> tower
> > just after the first hit, and noticed many dead bodies strewn about the
> > lobby. I don't wish to start rumors, but its a little odd for bodies to
be
> > inside the lobby.
> >
> > Now on to the A-holes in this world. E.Rutherford Police (NJ) got a
report
> > to keep an eye out for a white van. They pulled a van over and were
> > immediately assisted by county & state police. This van became suspicous
> > because it was first seen at Liberty State Park, in Jersey City. As
> hundreds
> > watched helplessly from across the river, these f***ing a**holes were
> > jumping up and down cheering and applauding. I haven't heard a confirmed
> > report, but heard that it was loaded with TNT and headed towards Giants
> > Stadium. The city of Paterson, NJ has a large middle eastern population.
> > Some of those pigs were cheering and burning the American flag. Right
here
> > in NJ! Sickening, to say the least as I was tempted to go out and buy a
> > Louiville Slugger and go to town on these........"people".
> >
> > I apologize for the length of this email. I just thought you guys might
> want
> > to hear about some things that won't make the news. Take care all, and
as
> > our prayers go out to ALL the victims and their families, across the
> > country, may God bless America. May the cowardice bastards behind this
> feel
> > the full wrath of the USA.

> > > Phil, you be careful out there, I'm sure there were other buildings
> > > knocked off their foundations with the collapse of the towers.
> > >
> > > I'm sure there was a fifth plane involved that was headed toward Camp
> > > David; however, that plane was forced (yes forced, militarily) to land
> in
> > > Cleveland. I thought the target could also have be NASA's Glen/Lewis
> > > Research Center that is right next to the Cleveland Airport. The news
> > > reported that the plane landed because of a suspected bomb on board
but
> > > they haven't released anyone that was on that plane. The closed NASA
> and
> > > transported everyone that was on the plane there for questioning.
They
> > > are going through the plane and luggage with a fine toothed comb. The
> > > original flight plan was from Boston to LA. They closed all exits
from
> > > the freeway to get into the airport and even bus drivers were told
that
> > > if they attempted to exit, they would be shot. People that were
already
> > > at the airport were forced to walk for miles to get transportation
home
> > > because they were not even allowed to remove their cars from the
parking
> > > lots. My husband works for the company that does mechanic work on the
> > > busses that run to and from the car rental lots and the airport and
the
> > > drivers came over the raid the coke and water machines so they could
at
> > > least offer those poor people walking something to drink.
> > >
> > > It makes sense that they would hijack California bound planes because
> > > they would have a maximum of fuel causing the maximum amount of damage
> > > once crashed.

> > > > > > and the other, a United flight, is still in the air.
> > > > > > They (the local FBI) says the flight pattern indicates
> > > > > > it may be headed to the Pentagon; they say the plan
> > > > > > will be to shoot it down if the flight heads towards
> > > > > > any governmental buildings. I cannot help but to pray

              <text>Hey Gretchen-

I'm OK. I know Houser works near there but not near enough to be hit when the buildings fell. But I'm worried b/c I know some of the guys were working there. I don't know about how anyone's doing b/c all cell service seems down & the home phone is spotty as to whether we can call out or not.

My roommate and I just got back with our cans & water & dried fruit. There are still 2 more hijaked commuter planes unaccounted for. A plane crashed in Pittsburgh (but they said that may have just been people freaking out). The WTC doesn't exist anymore. A plane hit the Pentagon there are fires in the Mall in Washington. Everything's shut down: subways PATH train roads were shut for a while in and out. All domestic flights all overthe country were cancelled.

It's scary. I want to go home. We're at war. People are really freaking out. Huge lines at Cash Machines. Amy and I may go to New Zealand for theduration if it's possible. I haven't stopped hearing sirens all day.

I hope you are well

Kristi
