NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I am a pilot for American Airlines. On September 11, 2001 at 0750 CST I was piloting an MD-80 aircraft and approaching New Orleans on a flight path from West Palm Beach, Florida to Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. The First Officer and I had just finished our breakfast and were enjoying a beautiful flight over the Gulf of Mexico. I remember having my coffee with my feet up on the foot rests by the yoke. I asked the First Officer to monitor the ATC radio while I adjusted the ADF frequency to a New Orleans beacon. The ADF is similiar to a radio in that you listen to the sound the beacon makes to identify the navigation station. This station happened to be a news station (WWL-870). I heard a newsman talking over sirens and saying something about a plane and a building. After receiving more information, I asked the ATC controller if they were watching the news...her reply: "Oh, yeah", in a dark voice. At this time other aircraft asked what was up. I referred them to the news station. Soon everyone was commenting. The ATC controller requested that all planes contact their company...this was standard procedure, but was impossible due the immense amount of radio traffic. Next the controller said that ATC was recommending all planes to land. I looked at our options, and by now the best plan to proceed to our original destination of DFW. I informed the flight attendants of the situation and decided not to inform the passengers til we landed. The landing pattern at DFW was eerily quiet. The tower controller gave us clearance to land...I still remember her saying "have a good day" out of habit...my reply was that "I'm not so sure about that". After landing I informed the passengers and allowed them to use their cell phones...quiet crying broke out in the back. My cell phone had thirteen messages on it. We unloaded the passengers at the terminal and moved the plane away from the gate to make room for other flights. I will never forget how quiet the DFW terminal looked at noon on a bright, sunny day. The morning of September 11,2001, I was on my way to school, confused on why all the radio stations had the ame programming. When I finally gave up trying to find a station with music, I began to listen to the coverage of the terrorists attacks. I was shocked at what I heard. I began to notice the anxiety, and confusion of the people around me. When I finally arrived to school, it was the topic of discussion. When I went to my first period class, the teacher decided to watch the coverage of the history changing event, on tv. That was the first time I saw the horrible images of the attacks. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Seeing the World Trade Center collapse, was almost as if I was watching a summer blockbuster. After the attacks, I was very interested in the muslim culture, and religion. I was paranoid for a week, or two. But after those weeks, I went back to my pathetic life, of gossiping about the latest trends, and what celebrity did what. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? September 11, 2001 should be remembered as the day that our culture, and beliefs were tested, and prevailed. The day that our patriotism pulled through, and showed that we as Americans, stood beside our fellow Americans and helpped them through that tough time. We didn't fly an American flag, only because every store was out of stock. Otherwise, without a doubt, my family would have flown one. It was 5:45am and had I fifteen more minutes of slumber, when a coworker called. I got up and saw it was John calling. I immediately cursed his name and chose not to answer. Not being able to go back to bed for fear of oversleeping, I got up and showered. I left shortly there after. Driving in, on the way into work, thinking there was some dilema at work, I decided to return the early morning wake up call. When I hear the news, I couldn't beleive what I was hearing. Considering the source, I thought he was exagerating the truth. So then I turned on the radio, only to have it confirm what he had told me. As I increased speed in my car, my thoughts immediately turned to my friend, Julie who had recently moved to Los Angeles from New York. I decided it would be I, who would provided the next wake up call. When she answered, she was as sceptical as I, but relenquished and turned on the T.V. at my pleading. The next 5 minutes I will remember for the rest of my life. As she was describing to me what was happening, I started to increase my speed even more. And, I'll never forget, I hit 100 miles an hour, trying to get to a T.V., when she said, "Oh, my GOD! The Tower just fell". I said, "What"? She responded, "Oh my GOD, the Tower, Oh my GOD, Oh my GOD, the Tower. It's coming down". The tone and timber of her voice will color my life forever. The absolute horror and disbelief mixed with the instinctual female empathy all women have at the loss of any child colored what she was saying. The humanity she expressed from her soul shook me like I've never been shaken before. I was crying as I was driving. Unhable to wrap my brain around such an unthinkable tragedy, I speed ever onward to work. As I pulled in and left her to check on loved ones and friends living in New York. I literally ran upstairs to my office and turned on the T.V. As my co-worker filled my in on the few details that were available at that time, I saw the last tower standing in a cloud of Ash. The picture was surreal. You knew you were watching real life, but it all seemed like a movie. This is the part where Bruce Willis saves the day and Superman spins us back in time. I think the worst part of the days veiwing was when, I had been watching for quite some time and decided to change the channel to something else. I had to take a break and let this horror settle in. However, as I changed the channel, I said, "This is horrible. What? Are we waiting for the other tower to fall"? Little did I know that at that exact moment the other tower was actually starting to go. So I missed the start of the second tower crumbling like a gigantic thumb squashing a dry clay model. My co-worked said, "No, it's starting to go"! Quickly turning to a live shot, I then witnessed thousand of lives, literally, disintegrating before my eyes. The tears. The absolute helplessness. It was the first time I think I've ever tasted fear. Truly. Fear, beyond imagination. I felt so small and lifeless. I could only think of people's last moments. What they actually saw. The person looking out their window only to see a plane coming directly at them. The people who had an entire building fall on top of them. The people who had to jump. The conscious act of suicide over dying by fire. What was their, last moment. So, as I went back and forth between my absolute rage and paralyzing sadness, I decided to live my life differently from that day forward. I can only speak for myself, but immediately following the attack, I have never encountered more polite and conscientious drivers in Los Angeles. The people you'd normally expect to be road ragers, were the most patient and considerate human beings on the face of the planet at that moment. We had all left work early that day and you could feel the fear everywhere. People were interacting with the utmost compassion and care for their fellow man. It was truly amazing. You could literally, feel the human behind the wheel in the car ahead of you. You just knew they were looking out for you. Everyone was paying attention. Sad to say, but true nonetheless, we all finally woke up. Did I finally wake up? Do I live my life 100% differently? Am I a different person? Well, maybe. I have actually changed my entire work and social dealings. I try to stay in the now. I tell the people whom I love, how important they are to me. I try to express myself from a base of honesty. Honesty, even in the face of hostility. Some people just want to go back to how it was. Impossible, I say to them. I've actually lost friends because of my lifestyle change. They wanted to stay zoned out and not deal with life on it's new turf. I feel even more for these people because of the fear that keeps them locked inside. I kind of felt disappointed in myself because I didn't make some all at once life change. I kind of felt like I should have moved to Morocco and helped starving children or gone to Alaska to live life as a naturalist. But, then again, I do feel that a little peice of NYC will always be with me. I feel that as I try and better myself each day in some small way, I'm contributing to betterment of the planet. One moment at a time. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think the loss of life and the utter lack of respect for humanity should be the two most important remembrances. That out of evil, came our best moment. A moment, when we cared and bonded and interacted. We loved each other for a day, a week, etc. We all said the things we should say. Not letting the moment pass us by. We all said I love you, and meant it. We stopped taking life for granted. I actully went to New York in early Otober, 2001. I went to ground zero and took pictures, video and actually brought back some of the ash from there. It was a rainy Sunday and no one was at the barracades surrounding Ground Zero. It was much different from the day before, when hundreds of people were there. I decided to finish up circumnavigating the site, where I had left off the previous day. This led me down to where the trucks were leaving the site with all the mangled iron, steel, etc. I came across one last car that was still covered in ash. For one reason or another, they hadn't towed it yet. I had just been asked by a military man whether I'd like to stop filming my video camera or go to jail. Needless to say, I stopped filming and was walking away, when I saw the plastic bag and the ash covered car at the same moment. Like a flash, I realized I had to bring part of this tragedy home with me. Physically bring part of it back. I immediately, without hesitation or fore thought, picked up the bag, cleaned it off and began to scoop ash from the car into it. I was trying not to disturb the crime scene or look like an uncaring tourist, but the need to have a part of this, far overpowered any doubt of right or wrong. So, when I arrived home I decided the best thing to do would be to give a little bit of the ash to the people I care the most about. I bought little glass boxes and doled out even portions. This to me is my way of giving a peice of history to my loved ones so they can share it with their children and their children's children and so on. I feel I have, in a small way, kept the story alive. It's one that should never be forgotten. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? No, I did not fly the flag after the events of Sept. 11th. The flag holds more reverence and honor for me than before. But when I saw all these jackasses flying the flag on their cars, their houses, etc., it all rang false to me. I just knew that in 3 months, these same people who had the flag on their cars, would be the same ones driving over them on the street. I personally stopped to pick one off the street and received a loud honk and some physical gestures to get out of the way. I just looked at him with pity. The level of patriotism at the time, was quite inspiring, but the follow thru was even more disheartening. I felt ashamed to be part of a Country that took it Patriotism to some absurd level, like that of winning a sporting event. It was very sad to see so many, following a trend or fad, like sheep. After waiting 11 years, my husband, 11 year old daughter and myself were finally having the 2nd child we had always dreamed of. When the doctor scheduled the due date for Wednesday, Sept. 12, my oldest daughter, Hannah, said her sister was not going to be born on a Wednesday, as "Wednesday's child is full of woe". (Remember that poem?) So the doctor changed it to Tuesday, September 11 just for her, as "Tuesday's child is full of grace." We arrived at the hospital, which is within 5 miles of Camp Lejeune, N.C. the world's largest amphibious military base.As we were waiting for the doctor to arrive, the anesthesiologist came out and asked if the doctor had arrived yet. When told no, he said a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. We all looked at him in disbelief. Who can imagine such a thing? Who can comprehend something like that while waiting to give birth? Shortly after, the anesthesiologist came out again to inquire if the doctor had arrived yet. When told no again, he said a 2nd plane had hit the 2nd tower. None of this really sunk in, as we were anxiously awaiting the doctor's arrival. (We later found out he was watching the news.) The doctor arrived, and made a speech in the operating room about "everyone being under stress at this time, and being worried about events outside the operating room, but that we needed to concentrate on events inside this room." Our daughter was born at 10:27 am on September 11, 2001. Her name is Madison McKinley Eichhorn. As if this day was not tragic enough already, the doctor called my husband that night to say there was some problems with the baby, and they would need to run some tests. It turns out our daughter, whom we had waited for so long, has Down's Syndrome, Hirschsprung's Disease, and a small hole in her heart. The grief and terror we experienced that day was more than anyone should have to bear. Our nation was at war, our daughter was very sick, and we were afraid Camp Lejeune Naval Base would be hit next. As we look back to September 11, we are filled with many emotions. But we cling to the fact that on the darkest day in America's history, and little ray of hope shone through. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I witnessed history on September 11th wen i was in 8th grade at Glen Este Middle School. I was in Mr. Simcox's class and we heard something terrible had happened but they wouldnt tell us what it was. Then when we were watching channel 1 they did a viedo replay and we saw the two planes crash into the World Trade Centers. At that point in time it was like the world stopped and no one knew what to say or do because no one in my class talked for at least 30 minutes. I relised that my life would never be the same and that i should be glad that i am alive and not regret anything and always tell my family how much they mean to me because you never know when something might happen to them or to me. My life has been changed after September 11, 2001 because it puts a whole new look on not only my life but the people around me too. Everyday I sit and wonder what it must be like having to grow up and never knowing your mother or father. I can't imagine what my life would be like with out my mom because we have been through a lot together she is my best friend. It put a whole new look on my life and it has taught me to respect people even if they dont respect me because that makes me a better person. It has also taught me to smile and say hi to people who look like they are having a bad day because for those few minutes i hve changed someones whole day. Medio dormido vi en la tv como se estrellaba el primer avión, ya no saben que hacer en las películas, pensé; entre dormido y despierto comencé a cambiar de canal, porque la idea de cientos de personas muriendo no me hace gracia, ni siquiera en la ficción. On the morning of September 11th, I was still in bed in my New York City apartment, trying to sleep after a poor night's attempt at it. The phone rang, and I let the machine answer. It was my mother in a worried tone. Somewhat annoyed that she was calling so early, I stumbled out of bed and got to the phone. "Turn on your television," she said. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Immediately, my thoughts turned to my girlfriend, who worked in the World Financial Center next to the Twin Towers. Unable to reach her at work or by cell phone, I left a message on her apartment answering machine, crying all throughout. I later learned from her sister that she made it back safely on the ferry. Then a friend of mine called - he worked in the building across from the Twin Towers and needed somewhere to go. Several hours later, he showed up at my apartment - sweating, limping, and caked in dirt. It looked like he had been through a war. When we went to the supermarket to get him an icepack for his leg, it was eerily quiet on the streets. Outside my apartment, we could see the National Guard stationed, with streams of commuters walking down Avenue C. FDR Drive was empty, except for the ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars heading down to Ground Zero. My friend spent the night at my place, and went back to his family the next morning. I'll never forget the memory of being awakened by a phone call from my wife's sister the morning of September 11. The tone in her voice told me immediately that something terrible had occured. She shouted for me to turn on the television. Never in my wildest imagination did I expect what I saw when I turned it on. As the image of the World Trade Center on fire appeared on the screen, I was instantly overcome with a surreal feeling of shock and horror. Over the course of the next several hours, as the news of a fire at the Pentagon and airline hijackings came to me through the tv, my feelings changed. First to fear, then finally anger. I spend more time watching the various news channels in an attempt to better understand the world as a whole, trying to make some sense out of this event. As I have become more aware of the world that exists outside of our borders, I have come to appreciate the freedoms that I enjoy as an American more than I did in the past. We should never forget those who were murdered and those who gave their lives trying to save them. We should also remember the American spirit that always seems to come forth in our people in trying times such as this. We should all strive to keep that spirit alive during the good times, as well as the bad. During the weeks after September 11, were were a nation of Americans. As a child, I always thought it was kind of odd that my Grandfather flew the American flag in front of his house year round. This was a man who risked his life in a world war to protect that flag. I am just now getting a sense of the pride in the American flag that he carried throughout his life. I have spent a lot of time reflecting on my Grandfather's sacrifice to his country during the war years. The nations debt to him and all of our veterans can never be repaid. In tribute to them, a flag flies year round in front of my home. God bless them all...and God bless America. I was at my desk in Boston, MA when my mother had called me to tell me that my brother was witnessing the plane crashes in NYC from his office building. At first, I thought it wasn;t anything serious. But then, chaos ran through my office and televisions were blasting the news. Watching my co-workers faces was something very emotional. Many tried to get through via phone to their loved ones in NYC, but couldn't get through. Our loudspeaker came on and advised us all to go home. Our building is next to one of the most famous in Boston, the Prudential Center. I was just at a loss for words. My friends and I just left the building, some climbed down 17 flights of stairs, while we took the elevators. We stopped in a local hardware store on the way home and watched the towers collapse. Never had I thought a problem like his could ever be upon us. I was scared for all the people that lost and were losing their lives. Airplanes turned from mass transit units to mass destruction tools. Even being a TV witness will change my view on so many things. Our outlook on many ideals and true wishes has been altered. They fell to the side and we looked at our freedom in a new light. When I got to my desk, someone mentioned that a plane crashed into the World Trade building. We were shocked but since that was all we knew, we turned on our radios to hear the news. I dedided to go down to our trading floor because they have televisions there. When I got there, I saw the flames and smoke from the tower that got hit. Moments late, we saw the other plane hit the other tower...my heart started to pound very quickly and the hairs on my body just stood right up. I could not believe was I was seeing, live, on tv. I ran back to my desk and called a friend who worked in one of the towers and I called a few more friends that worked across the street and blocks from WTC. We waited for more details and watched everything on the tv. The Pentagon and the falling of the towers. I didn't know how to feel...I just couldn't believe this was happening...how could this be for real, I kept thinking to myself. I called my family and told them that I would be leaving soon. I was concerned over a co-worker who was 7 1/2 months pregnant and I wanted to make sure someone was with her when we left the office. We waited a while and left at around 1pm. I walked uptown with the thousands of people evacuating the city. I prayed the whole time, especially walking over the 59th Street Bridge into Queens. Looking across, downtown, the towers were gone. You could only see smoke. Our lives and city has changed forever. I heard back from my friends later that evening. Everyone made it home okay but were still very shaken up. I remember not sleeping that night, scared that something else will happen. I slept with the television on a week. I didn't want to miss anything. Then, two weeks later, it hit me. I was overwhelmed and started to cry on day. I couldn't control myself...I hadn't cried once since Sept. 11. I needed that release. I felt so many different emotions. Reality finally hit me. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was in my bed, in a deep sleep. I woke up, when my loud and excited husband, Mike, flew the bedroom door open, yelling, "Something happened in New York, to one of the towers." I was startled, by the manner in which I was awakened. I began watching the news reports. My sister Susan called from Missouri, wanting to know if I was aware of the situation. She told me that she had just heard that there could be a possibility of it being a terrorist attack. I became concerned, but I said to myself, "I can't imagine that even a terrorist would commit such a deliberate and heinous act." I began making phone calls to other family members and friends to alert them of the horrific situation. While talking to my brother Ronnie's wife, Kitty, I witnessed the second plane approaching the other tower. In a flash of a moment, I said to myself, "Oh no, it is going to crash into the other tower." About one second later, I witnessed the second plane ramming into the second tower. I witnessed part of the plane go clean through the other side, and there were great balls of fire. Debris and office papers were floating in the air. It looked like the movie, "The Towering Inferno." We both gasped and yelled, "Oh my God", "Oh my God." Both towers were in flames, each had large gapping wholes. We hung up to call others about the tragic news. I knew in an instant, that it was possitively a terrorist attack, because I knew it was no coincidence that two planes, at the same time, accidently crashed into the twin towers. I was terrified, stunned, confused, and very disturbed about the innocent people who were apparently killed. My body froze, as tears ran down my face. My husband was running back to the bedroom, as I was running out, to locate and inform my daughter Michelle, and my father, Eddie, who were also in the house. We both yelled, "Did you see that?", "I can't believe it!", "My God, those poor people!" I tried to reach my son, Michael, who was located in the French Quarter's of New Orleans, Louisiana, but failed. I wondered, "Who is doing this?", "Is the Empire State Building next?", "Where is our military?", "Did movies influence the terrorist?" As I watched the news reports, the firemen and first responders were all scrambling around trying to get to the towers, people confused and scared were trying to evacuate the area, and some people were frozen, looking up, crying and sobbing. Things started happening fast. Lower Manhattan was in chaos. By this time, I was so petrified with fear, I could hardly think, because my brain was on overload. My body was trembling so much, that I could not drink my coffee, because I could not hold the cup steady enough to drink from it. I prayed to God. I recited the Hail Mary and Psalm 23. President Bush made a brief statement, and lead the nation in a moment of silence. The Pentagon was attacked. My husband ran to our home office, called all employees, told them to shut down all job sites, and go home to their families. The reports of a possible forth plane crashed in Pennsylvania, which later was confirmed. I called my sister, Deborah, who lives in Mississippi. We both had concerns about the possibility of her son, Scott, who is in the Air Force, stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, having to go to war. We knew someone would have to pay for what was done. I called Susan back, she was concerned about a missle site located near her home. I could not reach my brother, Craig, living in Slidel, Louisiana. I was terified because I still could not reach my son. I was horrified watching the people, in the windows of the towers, some waving their shirts, in hopes of being rescued, as a helicopter flying near by could not do anything to help them. I couldn't imagine how and why it was all happening. I never once thought we were so vulnerable. I felt very unsafe. I had so many concerns. I wondered what would be next. I had concerns of sites in my area, that they, whoever they were, may be interested in attacking, and was my family in harms way. I had thoughts of an atomic bomb. Would this be the big one! The end of the world! I felt there was no one or anything to protect my family, and that we were on our own, as far as our safety. I witnessed people leaping to their deaths, jumping out of the towers. At first I didn't realize what I was seeing. They looked like little two inch objects falling. I realized, by the movement of their arms, that it was bodies. It is one of my worst memories of the tragic events. I prayed for them, with deep sympathy, the Hail Mary and Psalm 23, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me." I can't begin to imagine, what they must have been going through, to make such a decision. My heart weep. My entire family, stretching four states, and eight cities, was experiencing it's own drama, filled with fears and concerns. I wanted to be with everyone, I wished we were all be together, safe, all under one roof. That way, at least if something were to happen, we would be with each other. I spiritually prayed to my deceased mother, Joyce, my brother, EJ, my grandmother, Inez, and other deceased loved ones. I prayed for their help, along with God, to help us all through what we were experiencing. I wanted to be held by my Momma. I was also fearful of maybe joining them soon. Then the unimaginable happened. The second tower that was hit, collapsed. My heart fell to my stomach, and my soul fell to the floor. It was unbelievable. It was the worst thing in my life that I have ever witnessed. It was as if, everything was moving in slow motion. It felt like a movie. It was so unreal. I was in shock. I witnessed the huge, dark, dense clouds, filled with dust and debris, chasing the firemen and people, petrified with fear, down the streets, as they tried to outrun them. I'll never forget those images. Then the other tower collapsed with the same dramatic scenes. Lower Manhattan was covered by clouds. I could not believe what I was witnessing. I cried and cried. It looked like "Armegedan." I didn't make anymore phone calls, for a while. I didn't do anything. My body was frozen. I put my life and the lives of my family members in God's hands. Reports were that people were running to the stores to buy gas mask. I had my husband gather all the mask he had around the house, for work. I felt I needed to do something more, as far as safety. I planned a safe room, with what I had around the house. My husband and I just sat there watching the horrors, in shock and disbelief, like everyone else. Our nation was in panic and grief. Bush later spoke from Barksdale, where Scott was stationed. This completely took all of us by surprise. I finally talked with my son, it was a relief. If so, tell us how. These events changed my life forever. I no longer feel safe, as I did before. I now know the realization, as to how vulnerable we really are. I sleep much more uneasier. What was normal before, will never be normal again. I don't let trivial things, in my personnal life, bother me as much anymore. I watch mostly news, instead of other programming. I am much more aware of my surroundings, as far as crowds, buildings, my mail, and low flying planes. When in a hotel, I ask for rooms on a low level, and near a fire stairwell. I don't leave home as much. I was always petrified of flying, now I won't fly at all. I am a stronger person in many ways than before. Security changes will effect my life in many ways. I'm concerned about my freedoms, and how much I will have to give up, for the safety of our nation. I now live in fear of terrorism and do not believe it will ever end, but only increase. I have always been, patriotic, family oriented, compassionate and giving, worshiped God, appreciated and respected firemen, police, and our military. So for me, nonething much has changed in these areas, but have been strengthened. I am sure there are things changed in my life that I have forgotten to mention, haven't realized yet, and that are yet to change. Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? I did fly an American flag. I flew a very large flag, given to me by my mother, before she passed away. I recently took it down to preserve it. It's my personal September 11th flag. It means a lot to me. I will cheerish it forever. I replaced it with my flag that was hanging before the events of 9-11. I always like to fly a flag. My feelings have not changed about our flag, I have always had great respect and love for the American flag. Because of this moment in history, we together are all united with love and thankfulness when we turn to our country. This action has brought the people of the U.S. closer, and is another step in recognizing our equality. For awhile i thought that everyone in the U.S. had nothing to worry about. As i saw the first and second plane hit I was amazed to know that that was actually happening. My life changed not as much as first but as time passed I have slowly begun to realize that its not as safe as i thought it was. I think that as Americans we should remember 9 11 as not a holiday but a day of mourning. What should be remembered is all the lives lost and that America is not as safe as we were born to believe. Yes my dad hung a flag outside for a few days we eventually hav taken it down. Before the attack I never had much interest in the flag but since then I have grown to appreciate it more. I was in my World History class in 6th grade and my principle came over the intercom and told everyone to turn on the T.V. We saw the second plane crash into the building and it was shocking. It didnt feel real, like a nightmare or something. I did not have any fmaily in NYC so it wasnt as hard for me as it was for other people but it was still devastating knowing how much pain families were in at the time. A month later my family went up to New York for a vacation and we visited Ground 0. It was amazing and incredibly sad. Dirt, dust and rubbish everywhere! Even though no one in my fmaily or any friends died bc of this, I realized that my self or any of my friends or family could die at any moment. I have also become more patriotic. I try not to fight with ppl bc I know I wouldnt want to leave this world in an arguement. and I always tell my family that I love them whenevr I am leaving them, even if just for like an hour. It is not up anymore but I have found a new respect for the American Flag and I am proud to be apart of this strong nation! I,Jessica Gay was at school until around 8:30am and I didn't feel well so my mother check me out of class. We were sitting on the couch watching the news and I saw the World Trade center was on fire . People were running around trying to see help. I was in shock but my heart went out to the people how would never see their loved ones again. So many children with lost parents, friends, sisters, and brothers.
