My wife had got up early that morning to go to the beach. I was awoken by my 3 year old daughter to turn on cartoons and to fix her breakfast. I turned on the TV and they had just reported the first plane hitting the first tower of the World Trade Center. I watched in horror as the second plane hit and the reports came in from the attack on the Pentagon and the crash in Pennsylvania. Not thinking my daughter knew what was happening, she turned to me and said, "Daddy, those people who done this are very mean." I said "yes honey, they are." I realized at that time, that our children notice much more then what we give them credit. We decided to leave the next day with the images in our minds that would haunt us forever. I wanted to write one more entry, for now. I think that people have become meaner to each other, since the terrorist attacks of 9/11. I think they distrust one another more, too. The evil of the wars Bush wages for oil has permeated the culture. It is a frightening place to live. I now sincerely wish I left here long ago, though I was born here. I'm not sure what I'll do now. I think, too, that people have internalized the prevailing bigotry of the Bush administration to some extent. The fact that only rich white men are given power in the so-called Justice Department, for instance, under Ashcroft, and his bizarre views on homophobia, too. There is a fear here that didn't exist before I don't like. I feel more than ever for the indigenous people of this land, because I know now more how disenfranchised they must feel, having been "conquered" so long ago and yet still being here. I don't really feel "conquered," but disenfranchised, yes, so maybe I can't really empathize entirely from personal experience, but I know some of that pain, now. I am still wondering if I can get compensated. I notice your website has resources for that, but I doubt I ever will. I can tell you that the changes come over me since the terrorist attacks have made me a more sober person when it comes to such things. I probably never again will take for granted money I inherit, since it can make things like seeking enlightenment much easier. It definitely facilitates that. I'm still wondering how to do that, frankly, even after all my experiences, which have not been so good, all the time. I have felt unaccepted where I'd wanted to be accepted, and I wonder where I really do "fit in," to be honest, in regards to this. Maybe time will tell. Frankly, I find the pursuit of compensation to be a difficult and discouraging process, so I don't know if I will pursue it even here, where at least you get back to me, via computer. You are the only ones who have cared that much, practically. A woman named Ernie Rampola, from the Red Cross, tried hard to find compensation, but the most I ever came up with was counseling, which I didn't take advantage of, having my own brilliant therapist, Soonja Kim-Raynor. She is helping me with my mother, who didn't want me to come at Christmas, or my birthday before that in July, because Dad's tyrannical. Soonja is calling my mother and we will have a 3-way phone session, soon. I wanted to write one more thing about my late Uncle Felix--he put me up in a house he owned on Hollywood Avenue in rural Silver Spring, Maryland, back in the 70s, when I was having trouble with my father "at home," on Cherry Tree Lane, in his house. I spent the summer between 11th and 12th grades there, and while it was somewhat of a "reprieve" from the violence, the college students there didn't want me around, and that was a nuisance. He was about the only person who helped me during that time, and I am eternally grateful to him for that, too. So, you see, he really was a great man to me--a good one, anyway. His spirit has been wise, in the place where he is, now. He's been my most steadfast guardian angel. I don't know what else to write. I have been writing a book about my first years devoted to Amma, and it may become a post-9/11 piece, since I met her the summer before that, and enlightenment, and not necessarily Amma, has been my prime focus since then, though she's been my "satguru." I'm not sure I accept her as such, but possibly. It's hard to tell--my devotion to her waxes and wanes, but mostly, since Mom's breast cancer, more or less, it has waned. I feel like this whole path has, and my parents don't believe in it--that Felix's spirit could ever have done that, for one. Or that spiritual liberation is life's highest goal, for another. I gave up writing that book last summer, pretty much, except when I saw a film Gwyneth Paltrow was in, "Sylvia," about Sylvia Plath, the poet who killed herself. That got me to write the book, again, for a time, but now, I've reached a "mum" period, again, after the holidays, which I didn't want to write through, since I found it depressing to relive such bad memories, mostly. I got as far as the fall, just before I went to Deer Park and tried to get Robert Redford, who in on the board of the Natural Defense Resource Council, to form a group to save the wilderness at Muir Beach. I read he and Kathy, his mistress, live near here, somewhere--one of his many properties--but he never responded. I'd written in response to his mass mailing from NRDC about the desecration of environmental laws since Bush took office. I wrote Bush a long letter, about much of this here, only less detailed and I didn't hear back from him, either. When I got back from Deer Park, with no luck there, as I'd tried to integrate into that community before the winter retreat, ongoing now, I found out about the Big Lagoon Working Group, which is a government organization and is to restore wetland habitats to as near as possible to 1853 levels. But it really isn't addressing the bacteria problem in Redwood Creek or the cutting of ancient trees and use of round-up on the stumps. My luck getting prominent people interested in my causes is not good, and I think that I ought to stop trying, since it turns up a goose-egg, most of the time. An "irony"--I saw "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton," recently, on a whim, because it didn't seem like my type of film. It was made by Dreamworks, which is run by Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg, out of Hollywood. I had informed them of Leonardo's not showing up at his own event in June, and sure enough, here was a film depicting a slightly similar, though not realistic, situation, where a Hollywood "bad boy" tries to improve his image by holding a fundraiser on-line to "win a date." I'm not kidding. If nothing else, I feel like writing my book, some more, after that, though I've yet to sit down at the computer and try. I do feel like I should do that for myself, if no one else, since I can't believe how difficult this journey to seek "life's highest goal," enlightenment, has been. I used to imagine Felix ask if I have children--I do not. And "he'd" say that I should go to Plum Village, then, but now, after what happened at Deer Park, no. Hardly anyone's there, now, anyway, since most of the sangha is at Deer Park. My life's in ruins, and here it is, "on display," for Ashcroft and company to see--and "gloat" over. But one day, I will be doing better, I can tell. Once, about two years ago, I emailed Bush I was praying for peace, nightly, as Amma said. And the next day, the papers said that the Taliban had pulled out of Kabul and that Bush and Vladmir Putin had reached an agreement to reduce nuclear arms by 2/3 over the next ten years. I feel like we've gotten "used" to Bush, too, which is scary. I feel numb when it comes to him and Ashcroft, at times. I used to be more angry with them, and the fact we've gotten used to the coup they pulled to gain power has deadened that, so maybe there's an "upshot" to that, after all. But I want a legitimate, ethical, and caring government, like everyone else does, and this is not that. I really will go now. You know, I've written at Bruce's website some more since every last word of the long letters I wrote him there were pulled by his "diabolical" webmaster, Dan Levy. But frankly, it reminds me of being in a rank bar or something, the way people are there, and I "left." I keep phoning an assistant. Laura Brown, at New College in the women's spirituality program, and I don't get any information on the offerings there, so far, so I may "miss" this semester. I don't really think I'm that ready to commit, anyway. I went to Emerald Earth, a natural building community in Mendocino County, but I doubt I'll live there. I may go back and help out, and, when the time comes, I will employ the "master builder," there, Michael G. Smith, to help me build a sustainable house. As you can see, my enthusiasm wanes, too, not just devotion to one teacher or another. I went to the City of 10,000 Buddhas in Talmage recently, too, but their schedule is too demanding--from 4AM to midnight, every day, meditating, and it is exhausting, so I didn't return much. But given how my Uncle Felix "put it" the moment the first plane struck, I believe he may have meant for me to do something like that--live in a Zen community, since enlightenment is what they seek all the time. It was not "meant to be," however, though. I never watch the news in the morning so i had no idea. When he said it i was not sure what he was talking about. I didn't really know what he meant. My first recation to hearing about 2 airplanes running into the world trade center buildings didn't seem like it was real. At first i thought he was just joking, but when i arrived at school i soon knew that he was not joking. Everyone was talking about it; it seemed that i was the only one who didn't know what was going on. It was scary to think of all the people in the building that perished that day. We listened to it on the radio in my 2nd period class, my teacher didn't think it was a good idea to watch it. Some of the kids in the class thought it was just a big joke. They were making fun of how all the people were just jumping out of the buildings. I was so mad at them. I was just to upset to do anything about it though. I later watched it after football practice that day, and i learned how terrible the crime really was. It was so sad. It still affects me today. Yes i have flown an American flag after the events. We didn't have a flag holder in the front of my house before the events happened. I would never fly a flag. But after the tradgedy happened me and my dad put up a flag holder and are now still flying the American flag. My feeling have changed very much so. I didn't know what the Pentagon was so I asked my friend. About an hour later I was in Geometry and on the TV a new caption read "World Trade Center hit by a plane." At first I thought that it was some sort of accident but then they announced a second plane hitting the other tower and I instantly knew this was no mistake. All day we were talking about it at school. I don't think that I actually knew they had collasped until I got home from school because some teachers had there TV's off so they could teach. It didn't really hit me at all until I got home to see my mom crying. I was so shocked and confused at all that happened and it is a day I will never forget. The people who were on all of those planes and came to there death in such a terrifying way, the people who died in the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, the people who jumped from 100's of stories to their death because it was so unberable inside, the people who instantly came to the rescue, all of the firefighters, policemen, and paremedics who risked their lives and showed such great bravery and love for others. They put themselves first and I think they should be remembered the most. One thing I will never forget is the look on the people's faces as they were standing right there experiencing it all. I will never forget where I was when I first learned about it. I was in my gym class getting changed when I heard someone saying that people were talking about war. I had no idea what she was talking about. I had never experienced anything like 9/11 in my life and I certainly never expected to. I asked her what she was talking about and she told me how two planes had crashed into the twin towers. No one really had many details about the attack at first. No one felt like doing anything for the rest of the school day. Everyone wanted to call their parents, family, and friends and make sure that they were alright. Being from New Jersey, many people have family members or friends that work in the world trade center. I remember watching the news most of the day in school and everyone was just shocked. I couldn't believe that something like that would happen to us, the United States. The main thing that I remember about the next few days is that I was constantly watching the news. My initial reaction was that I didn't want the US to fight back because I was afraid that it would turn into a nuclear race and in the end we would all be dead. But the more I thought about it, I knew that we needed to defend ourselves. I was kind of mad that our Intelligence Agencies were not prepared for some kind of attack. Don't get me wrong - I do not feel like it was our fault in anyway. However, I think our government should have been more alert to the clues and our security could have been better. After the attack, there would be stories on the news saying how this terrorist got past security with a fake ID or an expired one or how this terrorist wasn't supposed to be in the country but somehow he was. I visited ground zero a few months after 9/11 and it was an indescribable sight. One cannot even imagine the atmosphere and vibe that the wall mural projects. As soon as you walk onto the block behind the towers, the whole city becomes amazingly silent. Everyone is crying and it is absolutely like nothing else. I will never forget the events of 9/11. It taught me to appreciate everything and everyone and to always tell people how much I love them because you never know if you will see them tomorrow. I just woke up and was going downstairs to eat breakfast and get ready for school. When I arrived downstairs everyone in my family was awake. They were all staring at the television. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. Waking up in the morning as usual I see my dad holding my mother in his arms. The first plane had hit the Twin Towers and the news announcer was repeating what had happened. Then the camera turned live to the towers anda few minutes later on live television the second plane hit the Tower. All of my family was shocked at the sight of the plane hitting the Twin Towers. My feelings towards the people inside were sadness and at the same time mad. Mad beacuse the people inside had no chance to get out and that the terrorist had planned this disaster so perfectly. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. My life has changed in minor ways such as my mom driving us to school everyday, my parents protecting me more, and I have become more aware of my surroundings where ever i go. Each time I see an airplane in the sky I worry that that airplane might crash somewhere in the city or that terrorists have taken control of the airplane and plan to do evil things. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? The things that should be remembered about September 11th is the unity, suffering, and the overcoming of this horrible event in U.S. history. The unity of our firefighters, policemen, and volunteers helping the cause of rescuing people that were victims of the crash. The coming together of people in the U.S. I also think that the tragedy and the suffering should be remembered to show that the United States of America now is trying to protect all of its citizens even more since the attacks of September 11th. I did fly an American flag to show my American honor and also to show respect to the people that were killed in the terrorists attacks. My feelings towards the American flag have changed; I personally rise my flag to show terrorist around the world that although they did strike the U.S. and killed many people today we the people are more united thean ever. Where I was on 9/11/02. by Richard Lehman League City, TX Most mornings, I start the day by listening to KRTS radio station while I work at my computer. I am computer programmer and I work at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Normally KRTS does newscasts at regularly scheduled intervals. However there was a breaking news report that an airplane had struck one of the World Trade towers in New York City. A few minutes later I was in another part of the building, which had live CNN TV coverage of the evolving news events in New York. As I walked into the room I saw the second plane hit the South tower. I immediately new that this was NO accident. The images of the disaster unfolding reminded me of the Challenger Space Shuttle explosion that occurred in January 1986. I remembered the emotions that I felt after watching another National Landmark exploding on National TV. I still remember the images from 1986. Throughout the past year I saw countless images of the airlines crashing into the World Trade Towers. I read thousands of words about the buildings and the thousands of people that built them and work in them. These activities gave me and a deep insight to the unique New York landmarks and the people that these landmarks were a part of their lives. It is very difficult for the Human mind to comprehend the loss of 2,801 lives on 9/11.However these emotions of the loss of any human life are very powerful. One year later after attending a memorial service on 9/11/02 I still feel the emotions. It HURTS! It hurts very much. However my faith teaches us to celebrate life. I leave you with this thought. It is hard to describe. Change happens gradually. However it has reminded me that the rest of the World's society is DIFFERENT than ours. Yes I did fly the American flag at my home in League City, TX. I continue to have an American flag at my office. However my feelings about the American flag has not changed very much. I think this due to the fact that I am member of organizations that recite the "Pledge Alliance" on a weekly basis. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was working day shift in the Neonatal ICU of the University of Maryland Medical Center when my husband called to tell me about the first plane hitting the WTC. At the time he thought it had been a small plane. As he was telling me about it the second plane hit as he watched it on tv. Suddenly it seemed everyone new at once on the unit. A little while later the plane hit the pentagon, where one of the RN's husband was working that day. Another RN's cousin worked at the WTC. A tv accross the hall, a radio and an internet connection in our room supplied us with information while we worked. It struck me as I worked that the little babies in that room had no connection with what was going on. As one baby dropped its heart rate and we struggled to give it oxygen and get its heart rate up that regardless of what was going on in the world my world and that little baby's world was the same. I was very sad, angry and fearful about what was going to happen next, but I had the comfort of being able to help another human being come back from the brink of death toward life. Baltimore went into crisis mode and streets were shut down, buildings were evacuated, and we learned about the 4th plane going down in Pennsylvania. There were so many rumors about various targets in DC and Baltimore. We thought we might be at the hospital for a very long time. As the day went on the confusion started to clear. The husband and the cousin were safe. We weren't required to stay at the hospital. The police were letting essential traffic through. Driving home that night, it seemed everyone was being uncharacteristically courteous to each other. Traffic levels were way down. And there were no planes flying overhead. Of course I could not unglue myself from the television that night until very late. All I could do was cry and talk to friends and relatives. I can only imagine the agony people directly involved in the situation were feeling. The reactions from certain parts of the world were sickening, and maddening, but for the most part I think most of the world pulled together that day in grief and sympathy for all those killed and injured and for those that loved them. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Yes it has changed. I definitely did not realize how vulnerable America is to terrorism until that day. The attack in 1993 at the WTC was a hazy memory, but I guess because it wasn't as shattering I didn't think about it much. And attacks overseas although horrible didn't make me feel fearful. The bombing of the Federal building in Oklahoma was horrible as well but it seemed like such an isolated incident. 9/11 changed the way I feel about the world and America. It's made me learn about the world, especially the islamic terrorist activities. It's made me think about evil versus good not just in abstract ways but in practical ways. Yes it's nice to understand your enemy but I think Reagan had it right - 'peace through strength'. It's true, freedom isn't free. My life has changed because I value my country more now than ever, and I deeply appreciate those who defend it. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? In the midst of the horror and terror, there were people who ran into hell to try and save others. So many of them perished while desparately trying to help others. So no matter how much evil there is in the world, there is still overwhelming goodness and good people and a God who loves us inspite of our failings. We should remember all those who died, who were injured, and who suffered and try our best to prevent it from happening again. We have already liberated 2 countries from tyranny. I have never been more proud of my country than I am today, because since 9/11 I have learned how important America is to human freedom and human dignity in the world. No we are not perfect. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. Our Family had flown to the Bahamas to celebrate our daugther's tenth birthday. We had planned to fly home the morning of the 11th.As my wife was finishing packing she watched the first aircraft strike the Tower. My daugther and I walked in just as the second aircraft hit. We where all shocked. However, since we both are employed in the Airlines Industry, we realized this was not a mistake. As a Flight Attendant my wife had flown to and from New York many times. She stated that that was not a normal course. Our hearts and prayers went out to those trapped and helpless. Also to the emergency response personnel trying to save them. The people of Grand Bahama went out of their way to comfort and reassure us. But walking outside that day and seeing nothing in the sky was frightening. It was simply not normal. As I sat there my feelings were beyond anything imagineable. As the events unfolded I felt I was somewhere else, not here, not in the US. On 11 September 2001, I was standing near my desk talking to a co-worker in room 2D450, when the terrorist attack occurred on the Pentagon. I heard a loud explosion and all the electricity went out. I was hit on the top of the head, causing me to look up, and I could see daylight streaming in. I realized the roof was caving in on me. I thought I have to get my purse when suddenly thick black smoke mixed with white dust filled the room. The smoke was so thick; you could not see or breathe. Instantly fire came toward me from the E-ring. I grabbed my co-worker and ran away from the fire. I kept saying, It is so hot! The fire was so close it singed my hair. There was a toolbox and cable of wire in the middle of the floor of the 2D450 exit. I was running blindly when I tripped and fell over the toolbox. This fall helped me orient myself. I realized I had made a right turn toward the 2D450 exit. When I stood up, it felt cool and I knew this was the right way to escape. I still could not run because the cable had wrapped around my right ankle. I started shaking my leg, to release the cable, when my shoe fell off. I finally got free and continued through the exit door into the 4th corridor. The 4th corridor was still intact but there was broken glass all over the floor. I was afraid I would cut my foot, but I did not. It was then that I could see people scared, wet, dirty, and helping others to get out of the Pentagon. I followed the crowd to the center courtyard. I knew the center courtyard, which is called ground zero, was not the safest place to stay, so I went back into the Pentagon and exited through North Parking. Once outside I was looking for co-workers when someone yelled, another plane is coming, run! I ran and continued running across a wooden bridge down to the highway. A man passing by picked me up and drove me to olde town, Alexandria. There I was able to make phone calls to my family. A bystander saw I was in need of help. She gave me a pair of shoes and drove me to a catholic church where a priest gave me a blessing. She then drove me to a gas station where my nephew was able to pick me up to go home. When I arrived home, I discovered the portion of the Pentagon that I was standing in, had collapsed. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Yes! I am on anti-depressants and sedatives. Every night I have nightmares. I used to be able to take care of everything and everyone now I can only concentrate on one thing at a time and that is a struggle. On September 11, 2001 I witnessed history by watching the worst terrorist attack on the United States of America. It was an event that touched everyones life. My life has changed since September 11, 2001 because there is tighter security in most public places. Many people fear another attack on our country by terrorist. I was in algebra class and a teacher from the school called my teacher into the hallway to tell her what was going on, and when she returned she just kind of said, "The World Trade Center has just been hit by a terrorist plane." It was only one of the first couple of days back to school. Everyone was tired and didn't want to be back in school, but coming back to school was the least of our worries now. A few people started crying and everyone had the same look on their faces. The look of disbeleif and shock. After that I went to lunch and every television was turned on and everyone was sort of crouded around watching history unfold. Thats when the second plane hit and the tower crumbled to the ground. I feel more thankful for what I have now, and I'm thankful that neither of my parents worked at the World Trade CEnter or in New York. I feel bad for the people who have suffered from the attack and for the families that knew anyone who worked their that had to watch everyhting happen on television knowing that they couldn't get through to the people they were worried about. I also feel angry that people from a different country could get into America, take one of our planes and use it against us. I think one important thing that should be remembered about September 11th is the hard work put out by all the rescue workers and how eveyone, no matter who they were did everything they could to help with the disaster. I thought that they were joking because they do a lot of pranks, but when i got to school our history teacher had a t.v. in the room with the news on. NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. Well a freind of mine called me up after the first plane hit one of the towers. Being from Calfornia...it was early in the morning...She Told me to turn on the T.V. because "THE U.S. is being BOMBED"...Now i was asleep when she called and of course my first reaction was, "YEAH RIGHT!"..I turned on the T.V. to a cable news channel, and what i seen will last with me forever. Not only did i see the first tower burning, but i seen the SECOND plane hit the OTHER tower. I told my freind on the phone that we were not being bombed...but The TWIN TOWERS are burning, and that i had just seen a plane go into one of the towers. She was speechless, as i was after that moment...all i could say was,"OH MY GOD"...and i am seeing it on the T.V....A few minutes after that...is when they said something on the news that a plane had hit the pentagon. Again i relayed that information to my freind on the phone...i felt like an ON SCENE newscaster who was LIVE at the event...again we were both speechless...She wanted to go home...but in her job she couldn't leave..she was haveing an ANXIETY i do believe bccause of the NOT KNOWING what was going to happen next....we hung up from eachother...a few minutes after that is when they showed the pentagon on fire...again i said "OH MY GOD"...of course i am not sure when this happened...but the President came on the T.V. and grounded ALL AIRLINES..where ever they were at they landed...but..here is where it gets fuzzy....during this time..i do recall that the NEWS channel i was watching stated that there were TWO PLANES unaccounted for...airliners that is....that haven't landed...but...of course they found one of them...that wasn't no more... As the day progressed i watched eagerly for survivors...i watched the Hospital...which i can't remember the name...prepare for TRE'AGE.ing the Future patients...they were prepared for THOUSANDS of them....i also remember the news stating that on any given day that there are a total of 10,000 people working/inside both TRADE CENTRE towers...of course i was sad to hear that ...thinking that this is worse than when PEARL HARBOR was hit...and of course my first guess was terroism...due to the fact that i was flashing back to 1993 when the TRADE CENTER was bombed....again i seen it on the news...i can sit here and type and type of what i seen that day....but it was nothing like what the people of NEW YORK were feeling...becuase THEY WERE THERE...i wasn't....but being an AMERICAN..and proud...i couldn't comprehend the mass killing that just happened...hearing stories later on that day how people called from the planes PHONES...talking to loved ones..the stewardess that was on the DOOMED flight that would eventually hit one of the TOWERS...saying that the plane was HIJACKED..the Lady who frequented CNN called her HUSBAND saying that HER flight was hijacked...and was later slammed into the PENTAGON...E! Camera man on one of the flights that slammed into one of the TOWERS...those are just some of the NOTIBLE figures who took those ILL FATED flights on SEPTEMBER 11th 2001...there are so many heroes that came out of that....some that don't or didn't get the RECOGNITION..or didn't want the recognition...with me being on the WEST COAST ...i felt helpless....i couldn't donate blood because it seemed like EVERYONE was donating blood at that time...i wasn't a search n rescue personell..i wasn't in the military to kick some ASS...so i thought the best way to help ....was to pray...pray for ALL THE FAMILIES of the victims, pray for ALL THE SURVIVORS to get well, PRAY FOR ALL MY FALLEN PEACE OFFICER BROTHERS AND SISTERS, PRAY FOR ALL THE FIRE FIGHTERS WHO ALSO FELL ON THAT FATEFUL DAY, PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY TO BECOME ONE, PRAY FOR ALL THE COUNTRIES THAT LOST THE NATIVE SONS AND DAUGHTERS, PRAY FOR THE NEW YORKERS IN HOPES THAT ONE DAY THEY COULD ONCE AGAIN FEEL SECURE, PRAY FOR ALL THE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAMS THAT FLEW IN TO SEARCH FOR VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF THE WTC AND THE PENTAGON. and of course ..i PRAYED FOR OUR PRESIDENT and his family...Our President had to become a fast learner that day on TERROISM...and i know that on that day...the world that we lived in on SEPTEMBER 10TH 2001...would never be the same ...and those days and years before that FATEFUL DAY...will no longer be...NEVER!!!! NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. My life has changed dramtically in some ways...and a little in others.. The dramatic way that it changed my life..is that...i was scared...or nervous to fly on a plane...i think that it was heriditary due to the fact my mother herself does not like to fly....THEN: i could tolorate flying...i would fly..but i was nervous NOW:..i will not even get on ONE PLANE...i refuse to get on a PLANE..friends tell me that i am MISSING OUT ON A LOT..which is true...but i will not get on one.. I have also noticed that i watch people alot more closley...i watch my neighborhood more closley...i am watching things that happen around me more closely...a friend of mine told me that i was PARANOID...well when you watch on the T.V. thousands of people dieing at once...and knowing it is TERROISM on OUR SOIL...yeha you tend to get a LITTLE PARANOID...the last time i seen the news they talked about SLEEPER CELLS...hell a sleeper cell could be in my town...I WOULD NEVER KNOW...and now with MY GOV. who will soon get recalled....letting UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS to get DRIVERS LICENSES is telling me that ONE, my govoner doesn't really care about this state by allowing that...and TWO, by doing that he not only is trying to "BUY" votes from HISPANICS but also putting this state in a very bit MAGNET for TERROISTS to come to the state...so if votes means the lives of CALIFORNIANS...there is something wrong with that... I was going to third period and when I was walking in the hallway I was listening to people ask "Where are the World Trades, because one of them has just been hit by a plane?" When I went to my class the tv was on and are whole class was watching CNN. It wasn't much later I was watching on live tv the second tower was hit by the second plane. I wouldn't say that my life has changed nearly as much as some people, but I have to say that I live my life much differently only because now I look at life in a totally different way. I was always taught to always expect the unexpected. And now I know what my parents ment by that. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think that all the inicent people that died in the World Trade Centers should always be remmbered and never forgotten. I live with my parents and my parents are the most patriotic people, my mom has always had the American flag flying out of are house even before the September 11th attacks. My thoughts on the American flag is that I respect it more that I ever have before. The flag is a great piece of America.
