The folks referred to below work for that client or other consulting firms. We were at WTC to prepare for a rollout begin within a few weeks. One person from the firm remains on the missing list. Let me state a few things about what you will read in this account. First, there is nothing graphic, certainly nothing described that you haven’t seen a million times on the television already. Second, my companions and I are not heroes, just folks who, by the grace of God, survived this terrible ordeal. I have found that telling this story, letting people connect with someone who made it out somehow makes them feel a little better. It is difficult to comprehend the growing number of missing and our hearts are breaking to see the folks on the streets of New York desperately seeking loved ones. Finally, we did, on our journey, crack wise a time or ten. My advanced apologies if you are offended at the casualness of some of our comments. Surely the situation was dire, depressing and desperate. This song was written and recorded by my dearest friend. He is not a professional but an extremely talented musician, he cannot read or write the notes to music, yet he creates these songs. This song is titled: "You Give Us Love" On the CD cover it says: "This is a song for our own personal heros..no matter who they are..to forget would be our shame.." This song, in it's own way, has a healing power. It helped me to say good-bye to my father, who I lost unexpectedly. Most regular users are living in Austin, but silverChat has members across the country and abroad. This log starts on the morning of September 11, just after the first news reports of the WTC attacks appeared on TV in Austin, and ends early in the morning of September 12. I downloaded it from a computer animation bulletin board on 9/11 or 9/12. Everyone at our studio (located in Buffalo, NY) remembers 9/11 intensely. After we all gathered for work and huddled around the radio and cnn.com we wondered how much further the attacks would go. The images of the twin towers in flames will never be erased from our minds. We all left the office almost as soon as we arrived, unable to even begin to work. Our thoughts went out to friends and clients in Manhattan, hoping they were safe from harm, wishing that we could somehow lend a hand. I wish you all the best with your 9/11 archive. I turned on the TV and witnessed the second strike and the buildings falling, and I communicated with Chris throughout. We were very concerned, not about each other, necessarily, but about one colleague who passed through the WTC on his way to work, another who evacuated soon after the strike, and about a large number of friends and sources who worked in the building.
