Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I first heard of the tragedy from a fellow art student when we were in the grounds of the TAFE college at 9AM. She asked me did I hear? I said "What?" Anyway, to cut a dialogue short, she informed me that there was plane crashes in the USA. I asked "Who was it? The Taliban?" Anyway, we were late and she left me hanging at guessing who it was as we rushed to class. During class, my mind was numb and I thought "oh, this could lead to a WW3". I couldn't concentrate and the air in the room felt heavy and thick. I tried to listen to fellow classmates assignments but my mind was numb. During teabreak, I rushed up to the library to check on the internet news what had happened. Sure enough, there was a picture of the Twin Towers being engulfed by flames on the front cover of the CNN internet site. I looked up who was behind the attacks and found that it was Bin Laden as the main suspect. I also read about the attacks on the Pentagon and a failed "assumed" attack on the Whitehouse. Later that evening.... when I got back home, every single channel on the television was constantly showing the attacks on the Twin Towers over and over and over......... MEDIA- I ask that next time there is a major attack or tradegy in America, that the media, please DO NOT constantly bombard us over and over and over with the same images. Think of what this is doing to the minds and hearts of the victims families, children, etc. It is only now, that after 6 months, after watching a documentary about the construction of the Twin Towers and knowing how many people died in the Twin Towers, that I feel some empathy and sympathy of sadness at the loss of so many lives. It's also sad to know that people are willing to destroy themselves because of religion, war, hatred and take so many innocent people with them. :( And that is my story of September 11, 2001.
