Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On September 11, 2001 I was at Langston Hughes Middle School, doing the regular things that a seventh grader would do. I went to class, took a test, and talked with my friends. At around noon I was walking with a bunch of my friends to history class after lunch. The school was unusually quiet, then all of a sudden a student went running through the halls shoutng "A plane has crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon!" my friends and I were not amused "That is not a funny joke" I replied. Then I stepped into my history class and only about hlaf of hte class was there. Everyboyd was silent, our history teacher decided to tell us what had happened. He did not know very much, but he told us all that he did know. "A commercial plane has crashed into both World Trade Center Towers, and the Pentagon. I am not sure hwere all of the planes came from, but I think that one of them was flying out of Dulles." I was in total shock, how could such a horrible thing happen to us, the United States of America? Then my heart sank, I remembered that my dad was flying out of Dulles that morning for a business trip. When it was time to go to our next class I was fighting the tears that were forming in my eyes. In my next class, Math, the teacher went about the business of a regular school day. However my friend who's dad was working in the Pentagon that day, were holding hands trying to comfort each other, we were both afraid that our fathers might be lost. When the bell rang we walked out to the locker commons, normally the noisest place in our school was silent. I got on my bus and no one spoke, our bus driver had the radio on and we were all listening. I got home to find out that my father and my friend's father were absolutley fine. Unfortunatly one of my other friends was not as lucky, her father was a passenger on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon. Later that night I was on the phone full of anger, disbelief, and sadness. How could someone do such an evil thing! Even though I was only 12 years old on September 11, 2001, it is a day that I will remember for the rest of my life. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
