Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: My story is different and maybe a little selfish, but it happened. I was at work and heard about the WTC towers. We all tried to get on the Internet to see pictures and just kept saying it was unbelievable. The devastation, the start of the worst disaster this country had seen on it's own ground since the Civil War. My daughter called me from school to find out if I heard what happened. I said yes we were listening to the radio, and checking things out on the Internet. Then my son called and expressed the same thoughts. I left work about noon to take my daughter to the doctor, and thought I had worked everything out with my boss. I got back and had gotten confronted by her as to why I had used my lunch hour and my breaks to take her. I explained that I didn't realize it would be a problem, but apparently it was. I never took breaks prior to then because I had been salaried. Things had switched that Monday. It was the second day of the new policy, so it was still unfamiliar. To make a long story short, by the end of the day, I had been terminated because of this incident (after twelve years of service with this company) and felt devasted. I went home and cried. In the meantime, all the news about the WTC and the Pentagon etc, was going on. I had so many emotions that day. My life had changed and my boss was an idiot with no compassion, yet thousands of people were losing their lives. I guess today, I think back and wish that day would disappear from everyone's life, but it can't. All we can do is move on. I have a new job, and the people most affected by what happened in NY have also moved on. Let us remember, but let's not dwell. It's not healthy nor productive in pursuing future challeges and opportunities. Thank you for allowing me to write my story.
