Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I live in Scotlnad, and I had been working over the summer as a camp counsellor in up state New York. I had decided that I was going to travel for a while, so I went to Canda, and other places, and my last stop was NYC before I went home. I had planned on Tuesday morning to try and get tickets for the Rosie O Donnell show, but I had actually slept in and was too late. Anyway, I thought if this happened I would do the tourist thing and go to the WTC and the Empire State Building. I thought that I would walk, I knew it would be long, but I took in some sites and stopped for a coffee. By this time I was eventually nearing the WTC, and I could see smoke but not exactly were it was coming from. I thought nothing of it and carried on walking. About ten minutes later I realised the smoke was coming from the WTC, and I was looking at my map to see exactly were I was. There were a lot of people standing around watching, and all of a sudden I hesrd this huge rumble in the air and out of no where a plane smashed into the other building there was a huge fireball that went all the way up the building. There were a lot of people screaming, and some had a terrified look on thier face, I was one of them. I did not hang around for long as I thought that something else would happen, I thought straight away that it was no accident. All I could think about were my family back home watching this on the tv an wondering if I was there. I got back to the youth hostel I was staying in and phoned them straight away. I sat in my room contemplating what I had seen and thinking what if? I sat in my room for a long time I eventually went downstairs and herd that the towers had collapsed, it was devestating. I heard some stories that day though, a couple who had just arrived were jet lagged and they got up and had already been up to the top of the WTC, which gave me the creeps.
