Tell us your story: My story is not of 9/11/2001 but of a year later.As i read the newspapers in the uk reflecting about the terrible attrocities of 9/11,one thing stuck out in my mind.As everyone else ran for their lives the emergency services were running in the other direction!!! This hit home immediately as had the dister that was 9/11 happened in the uk then as a police officer i would be running in that same direction ! i decided there and then that i must return to New york to pledge my support for all my fellow emergency workers at the earlist opportunity. i was given this chance exactly a year later when a Delegation of British Police officers travelled to New York to pay their respects and to show our support. that week in New York was an incredible roller coaster of events with some wonderful highs and terrible lows. i found that friendship and solidarity amongst peers will never be broken. i sat with families of the deceased in church services and cried along side them and felt some of their grief. i heard stories of incredible courage and bravery and somehow manged to understand how terrorism will never win. i was priveliged to be at the first memorial of 9/11 and indeed returned the following year as well. i will never forget the feelings i experienced that week and the incredible friendships i forged.
