Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: It was September 11th, 2001. I was then a 13 year old in grade 8. I went to school having no idea what the WTC was, or that these terrorists were so hateful. During our first break which was at 10:30. I remember seeing two of my teachers sitting in their car which must have been listening to the radio. We, the students, still had no idea what was going on, even though the teachers did. The teacher remained to act like nothing was happening. Didn`t even let us know something happened. While I was out on my lunch break, one of my friends came back from lunch and told me what had happened. I was ever so confused. I just heard that terrorists were attacking the U.S. I was so scared. I ran and asked my principal for some details. I wanted to know what was going on. All my principal told me was that planes had hit the towers and everything will be okay. I countinually asked and asked him questions forever and he would answer them with 3 word sentences. I wanted someone to sit down and explain this to me, because I had no idea why the planes had been aimed to the towers. Why the towers? Why are the terrorist Afghans? Why are they doing this to us? It wasn`t until I got home that night that my mom had to sit down and explain everything to me. Once I actualyl found out what happened, I was so mad that my principal and teachers had totally avoided the subject. The next day I went to school and after hearing nothing about it on the daily announcments or from anyone, I decided to stand up for what I thought, and I went down to the principals office and let him know that he should reconize what happened to these people. Stand in silence and remember these people. Explain to the confused students what is going on. Give thanks to the firefighter`s who are down at ground zero right now trying to save lives, and cleaning up the mess so we can countinue with our lives. I was so proud of what I said to my principal because after I said that, he made a very great announcement that reconized all the grateful people who were on the planes, and who were at ground zero and who were in the towers. We also stood in silence to remember those who lost their lives. I wanted to share this with you because I think that even the little toddlers and the children should have every single detail told to them about September 11th. Even the gorey details about the people who lost their lives. This is very important. Kid`s need to know what`s going on in their society!! Thank you.
