Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: Some time in 1987 and also in 1989, I have visited the WTC. I remember touching the building, to feel how it is to be close to a skyscraper and what kind of structure it is. In tne 1987 visit, I was having my first camera with me - Asahi Pentax K1000 with a 80-200mm Zoom lense and with my American friend I went to the top most floor - to the observation deck. I took photos of uptown and downtown - whenever I look at them I get a surreal feeling of the perspectives. I also have a photo of a side view of one of the towers; the reflection of an adjacent building from its windows. More than not seeing the building anymore, I just cannot imagine the plight of the people who were in that building on that fateful day. I just feel very sad for them; not having a way out of it; away from the scorching heat and for many mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters, not to mention kids who lost their loved ones. Same for the people who were in those airplanes. It taught me one lesson - how fragile our life is and how mindful wwe should be about the clear and present danger to life, every minute of it we live. I hope those people as well as the fire fighters would never face such a death, if they would ever have another life. I would be more than happy to share my pictures in digital form with anyone. I would have no problem donating those photos of the WTC buildings to a museum or to the US Library of Congress. I guess when I visited the WTC on both those occasions, I thought of the day I would bring my wife and kids to New York City and show them twin towers. Now that it will not happen, I would be happy to let go of those photos. May those souls rest in eternal peace.
