Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I work nights and at the time I was working at Arkansas Children's Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I came home from work and went straight to bed, only to have my husband come in around 11:00 A.M. and wake me to tell me to turn on the news because the World Trade Centers had been hit by airplanes. Disbelief hit me. I though surely he was mistaken, he gets things all mixed up sometimes. How could this happen? I sat in my bed for the rest of the morning watching the coverage of what the day had entailed. Horror, fear, and mostly anger cut through me. How dare soemone do this to OUR country. Tears of sorrow and anger seemed to take over. I prayed for the ones lost that day, I prayed for New York, I prayed for the people who were wondering if their loved ones were alive and I prayed for our country. Later that afternoon I had to get ready for work, the TV was never turned off. I listened for any kind of news as I got ready for work. I listened to the radio on my hour long commute to work. After I got to work, took report (I am a registered nurse) we kept the TVs on and watch all night during the 12 hour shift. All of us wondering what can we do to help. I knew I was going to get the flag my husband and I always wanted for our house. But that didn't feel like I was doing enough. I still feel like I haven't done enough. Since 9-11-01 I felt more patriotic than ever, I am so proud to be an American.
