911DA Story: Story
My story is not that of a hero or anything like that. Just of an ordinary person that was shocked awake by the horror of the acts of a few cowards.
My boyfriend and I were sitting in the living room of the house that we share together with my two children and my grandaughter. The TV was on to the morning talk show that we normally watch, to get the just of the day, when we were in awe of the second plane flying straight into the second tower of the Trade Center. I am from NJ by birth so I remember when the buildings were put up. What an awesome sight they were, pristene and new. Now they were on fire and on the verge of collapse. Like the reporter said of the Hindenburg, "OH THE HUMANITY" I sat in shock and disbelief. My brain could not comprehend what it was seeing. My ears could not believe what they were hearing. I work for the government, like probably half of the town, in one way or another. I called my job and they were in the process of evacuation of the base, only active duty personnel the rest of us were not allowed on the base. I was concerned for the folks that I work with as well as for the rest of the world let alone the rest of the country. Those poor people didn't have any idea what fate awaited them or their loved ones left behind. After the phone call to one of my co-workers, the rest of the day is much of a blur. You cant see much when your eyes are filled with tears for people that you dont even know. And your head pounds from the thunder between your ears because from the rush of images of towering infernos. I love my country and my fellow man. I hope that we find the cowards that are responsible for this tragidy of life. My grandaughter will not know how it feels to not worry about someone knocking down your place of work, and taking you on a one-way trip to oblivion. God Bless the Heros, and the USA.
