Tell us your story: I was enroute to my job at Mayport Lanes listening to the Lex and Terry radio show on Rock 105, Jacksonville, Florida when they made a comment about seeing an aircraft crash into one of the World Trade Center Buildings. They became deadly serious and told everyone listening to please stand by as something serious is happening to the World Trade Center buildings in New York. Arriving at my job, all my co-workers were watching CNN in a state of disbelief. At 10 AM we were all told to go home as the bases were going on high stage of alert and all non essential personnel had to leave. As a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer I attempted to contact the retirement board to return to active duty in an effort to show my patriotism, unfortunately they informed me that I had been retired to long to be called back as they already had a slewful of volunteers calling to come back in the service.
