911DA Story: Story

On the morning of the 11th, I was up to my normal routine. I tookd my son to school and returned home, shortly after we arrived back to the house my husband called and told me to turn on the television. I knew that something was wrong by the sound of his voice. When I looked up at the TV and heard what they were saying I was numb. I stayed glued to the news unable to move. A few day's prior to the attack we had gathered for a family reunion, members had come from all over the country. I called my mom to see if any one was scheduled to leave out of the area Air Ports. For us we didn't have any one heading out that day.
All I could think of was that I needed to have my family together. I called the school that my son attends to say that I would be coming to get him and was told that a number of people had the same idea. While on the phone with the school I was told about one of the teachers who's husband works in the towers could not be reached. When I arrived at the school I tried to help in any way I could find out about her husband. But the phones into the area were out. All means of communication as we've come to rely on were useless.
I kept in contact with the school to check on the teacher and was releived to find out that her husband was in one of the towers when they came down, but was able to get out with a few scrapes.
I recently took a trip around Manhattan on the Cirle Line, when we reached the tip of the island i cried. The view that we took for granted was not the same and never will be.
