Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was at my place having a cup of coffee. Earlier that day I had to pass a test in school and i did well so I was happy and fine that afternoon. I wanted to call some hotels in Munich because my american boyfriend and me wanted to go to oktoberfest. I tried to reach somebody but nobody picked up the phone. At this time the first plane had already hit the building. I tried several times but nobody answered. I wasn't worried because I didn't know what was going on far away from my hometown. I went on drinking my coffee and reading some magazine when the phone rang. It was my sister's fiance and he was talking very seriously. he asked me:" Are you in front of the tv?" I denied. "then go to your tv. You'll never believe what you'll see." So I turned on the tv and I switched to CNN and there it was. It was around 3 p.m. and I saw the building collapsing before my eyes. I couldn't believe it. It was a horrible feeling and it comes back to me while I'm writing this report. I was lost in shock. I tried to reach my boyfriend but there was no way. I couldn't stop crying and when my mom came around we just held each other, sobbing. It was special for me because my boyfriend is american and I'm working for a fire department. It is still bothering me on a personal level because he had to leave me to fight terrorism. I'm very proud on him and I pray for him every day. After a couple of days when the shock fainted and the grief began I started putting flowers on the places where the german people could express their grief and pain and their fear. We did a "in memoriam poster" for the american firefighters and tried to gather some money for the widows. It reminded all of us that you can never be sure to come back from a call. This is my story. I'll never forget this day and while I'm sitting in front of my computer wrighting this down I'm fighting my tears and think of all the people who have lost somebody they loved. My thoughts are with these people and i hope that there will be a chance to get over it.
