Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was awoken in the morning of September 11, 2001, by the telephone. It was my cousin calling and telling me that a plane just crashed into both towers of the world trade center, and another one into the pentagon. There was speculation of other planes possibly being hijacked as well. I was home alone with my 6 month daughter, as my husband Tim had just flown into Los Angeles the evening before on business. I immediately called him, and we talked several times throughout the day about the events. I was very frightened, just sat in front of the tv all day and hugged Camryn. Another friend called me & told me I better get gas, because the prices were going up, some places rumoured to be over $6 a gallon. The lines at the closest gas station stretched almost a block. Afterward several local gas stations were cited for price gauging. I felt a strong need to be with family, and cried to my husband, and he ended up being stuck in Los Angeles for days, and of course I was nervous about him flying the day commercial airlines took to the skies again. I talked to my friends and family all day, watched tv and cried. I cried for the victims in the buildings, for the police officers and fireman who went in to rescue them and never came out, and for the passengers in the airplanes, who knew what their fate would be, and also for all their families.
