Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I had been at work for approximately 30 minutes when I passed through the living room where several residents were watching television. The first trade center had been hit but I did not realize what had happened. Just then another employee named Tim walked up and ask what was gong on and I told him one of the World Trade Center Towers was on fire. We continued watching and then the news came on about the Pentagon. We were just standing there trying to put everything in perspective when the plane flew into the second tower. Nothing seemed real. I wasn't sure if I wanted to cry, run aor even throw up. Then the towers collasped. It was hard to imagine how anyone could have gotten out. Thank God for the ones that did and have mercy on the sould of the ones that did not. From that moment on for almost two full days I was glued to the television every minmute I could be. Sometimes I felt like I was the only one around experiencing all this. It was like the world had stopped and this was the only thing going on. But was it real? How could anyone have so much hate for another human being to decide that their life should end so selfishly. I wanted so bad to call my dad so he could tell me everything would be okay and take care of me like he had always done, but that was not to be. I lost my dad earlier that year to a heart attack. So I had to be strong for myself and depend on myself. In my own way I did talk to my dad and I felt he was there looking after me. I felt so lost and empty. Wishing there was somthing I could do and knowing there was nothing anyone could do. It is hard for me to imagine how someone can get control of your thoughts and laed you into self distruction. What did they prove by taking so many innocent lives with them. It did not make them heroes. It is very sad that they cared so little for the loved ones they left behind, but then they belive so different than we do. I am proud of our armed forces and the job they are doing. The united States has always opened they doors to all who want to enter. I have said for years that we would one day be in another war and it would not come from across the seas but from our own back yard. I guess in a sense it did.
