Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was talking to my grandmother and heard on 95.5 that a plane has hit one of the towers. I told my grandmother to turn the TV on and I will call her later. I then immediately called my husband who worked in the City at the time and he said that a plane hit and they think it was more than just an accident. At that point I held my stomach, for I was 6 months pregnant at the time and was really not sure what was happening. I proceeded to work and when I arrived the chatter was that another plane hit and then the Pentagon. At that moment I thought of my older children who were in school and I left work without looking back. I truly felt at that point that we were going to war on our homefront that things will never be the same. I kept thinking of my children in school wondering what they were thinking. I immediately could not get over the bridge since they closed it but I finally went down a one way street and proceded onto the bridge. As I was driving I looked to my left and there it was smoke billowing from the towers. My heart ached and I had an odd feeling that it was one of those events that will live with you forever. I worried about my husband but felt so helpless for my children and my child who was not born yet. I never returned to work after the 11th. I stayed home and my second daughter was born on the 11th of December. I would not stop watching TV. I was in awe of the life I put my children in. I do realize we will come through and we will succeed in whatever we need to do to stop this terror on our homefront. I want to hold my children safe, I want them to never feel afraid or alone in this world. I want them to know this is a wonderful world we live in and that 90% of us are good and honest people. I want them to love and never hate those around us. I hope that we can make their world a better place and a safe place. I feel for all of those lost and all of those that have lost. I could never imagine this happening to us, but we are stronger for it and we will come out of it bigger and better. Hug more, love more, try not to yell or get upset over simple things. Enjoy every day and every minute. Those people did not chose to leave us they were forced into it. My heart felt sympathy to all of those who lost and those of us who have been affected by this horrible event. Hug your children and family more...love them more...understand them more...your family is the most important and that you are there for them in good times and in bad. I never had a day go by that I don't think of what happened, the people it happen to and the children that this has effected. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Enjoy life to it's fullest and don't let them get you down. Love to the fullest.
