Friday, February 01, 2002 4:41 PM Comments regarding government compensation My sympathy goes out to the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks. I am proud to know that there were so many contributions made by the American public for those families. What I don't understand is why the Government should also be giving them money! From what I hear, the public donations are going to amount to more than $1 million for each family, so why is it necessary for the government to add to that? Tragedy happens everyday to innocent people like being killed by a drunk driver, in robberies, to our military personnel fighting for our country, etc. and these people are NOT receiving compensation. I personally think that the 9-11-01 victim's families are trying to take advantage of a sad situation. Also, I think the Government is making a big mistake by setting a precedence.
