Dear Sir:
I am writing to urge you to extend
survivor benefits from the September 11
catastrophe to all individuals who are
committed partners of those who were
killed at that time. Married people will
be included, of course, but I am hoping
you will include all partners in long
standing stable relationships, whether homo-
sexual or heterosexual, and especially to
children of such relationships. The pain
and loss is just as severe, perhaps more
so, because there may be less community
support for them.
This has been a terrible tragedy for
so many people. We need to get people
strengthened and rejuvenated and back to
some semblance of normal life, where they
can survive emotionally and return to
contributing to the community.
