This will set an enormously bad and potentially very costly precedent. Will we be compensating the families of those who died in Oklahoma City as well? What about future tragedies unrealted to terrorism? Will families of victims who are killed in airline disasters be compensated by the Government? What about soldiers killed in battle? From now on we are going to have to lay down rules on which accidents or terrorist incidents qualify for federal bail-outs. This is ridiculous. The federal government has absolutely no obligation to compensate these victims whatsoever. In fact, although not politically correct, I contend that it is the victims themselves that are responsible for their own families well-being, it's called life insurance. We should have enough life insurance to reasonably cover our families' expenses for at least two years after our deaths. If a victims spouse didn't have adequate life insurance or plans for their family, why should the federal government (i.e the taxpayers) step in to bail them out? This is a matter for private charities. Americans from every corner of the nation responded by sending hundreds of millions of dollars to these victims families', where is that money and why isn't it getting to those who need it? Instead of Uncle Sam forking over tax dollars, you should be investigating some of these so-called charities (Like the Red Cross for example) who are sitting on all that cash (500 million dollars by some estimates) instead of disbursing it as was promised. This truly was a horrific crime and everyone is sypathetic to their plight, that's why we all sent those hundreds of millions of dollars in support. Find out where that charitable money is and make sure it get's to the right families quickly.
