Wednesday, January 02, 2002 5:07 PM No subject given Dear Mr. Zwick: I have just spent the last 1 1/2 hours browsing the comments to the Interim Rule on the DOJ's website and am appalled that the gay lobby (which evidently now includes Amnesty International) has totally clogged the site with two form letters. By my rough estimate, these form letters account for approximately 95% of the comments on the site since the Interim Final Rule was published. As a result, it is virtually impossible to locate postings on any topic other than the issue of whether same sex partners of those killed or injured in the 9/11 attacks should be eligible for compensation from the Fund. Its like searching for a needle in a haystack. I gave up, and something tells me I'm not alone. The homosexual lobby has a legitimate concern -- one that it doubtless is entitled to press. No problem with that. But, the rest of us should be able to view comments on the many other issues of vital concern that the Interim Final Rule presents. I resent the fact that this narrow, single-issue lobby has rendered the site useless to anyone seeking to read comments pertaining to any other issue. It is unfair to the rest of us, and defeats the purpose of the site. Perhaps the comments can be categorized by topic, or your word search engine can be modified so that one can skip these mass form mailings when browsing, such as by allowing one to browse all posting EXCEPT those containing specific terms selected by the viewer. After looking at 100 versions of the same letter, I get the point.
