Monday, March 11, 2002 11:04 AM Kenneth Feinberg Good Morning, I received an e-mail that is very disheartening to me as an American, a person and yes a gay man. The news that Kenneth Feinberg is not going to allow funds to gay families ,but is resorting to hiding behind outdated state laws and prejudice to refuse these funds is very disheartening. I ,like many I know, mourned for the people who were lost and for the families of those effected by this horrible event with no prejudice against anyone and I would expect the same to be done by the people in charge of the funds that ALL Americans worked to raise. I find it irritating that when organizations and people were fighting to give blood and were organizing rallies to send to the places effected that they weren't asking if we were Gay or Straight to see if they wanted our blood ,or time ,or money. I work part time in one of the many gay bars in Atlanta Ga. and saw the tears and the pain as news came across and I saw people working overtime to plan events and watched as entertainers,Actors and Singers work through their emotions to try and make people laugh when all people wanted to do was cry. It is a slap in my face and the face of everyone who worked to raise money and supplies to discriminate in such a manner. I send this letter with hope that you can make sure we send a message to the world that in America ......we are all proud.......we are all Equal......and most of all we are all LOVED. I thank you for taking time out of your tremendously busy schedule to read this and our country is constantly in my heart and my prayers.
