Tuesday, March 19, 2002 12:24 PM 9/11 Compensation Fund Coverage I have read, with deep sadness, that we are once again going to discriminate against gays with the distribution of the 9/11 funds. That's now how I want my tax dollars and my contributions spent. If 9/11 didn't teach us that hate creates disaster, I don't know what will. The very genesis of the events of September 11th came from the beliefs that some people were more right than other people. By discriminating against families of gays (and I do mean the partners of gays that can't prove they are married because we have prevented that too), we are perpetuating the disaster and frankly, proving Bin Laden is correct about us. We are our own worst enemy and we will be responsible for our own destruction. I know, technically, the law doesn't support this. But it doesn't support illegal aliens or unborn children either. Either you need to be 100% consistent or you need to be 100% compassionate. Right now, you are neither. I urge you to include the families and partners of the gay heroes that gave their lives for our country. It's time to do the right thing.
