Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

First and foremost I would like to say that I am a proud United States
citizen. Proud indeed of the fact that my country as overcome such turmoil
and evil as to what prevailed on that unforgettable day, September 11, 2001.
I am thankful for the fact that in such a time, the citizens of the United
States have come together as one and stood against this war on America. As
our president has been quoted as saying "we must come together" and that we
did. We have not let prejudices and racist individuals stand in the way of
what makes us a "united" country. However, I must say how disgusted and
shocked I am to see that a person's courage and wisdom in such a time of
need, will not be honored under this fund which has been established. Why
will he/she not be honored? Because he/she is a homosexual in the United
States of America. A proud, free, United States citizen who was indeed a
homosexual. Let us not forget that it was he/she that saved our country.
Let us not forget it was he/she that did not care whether you were straight
or gay and stood up to those terrorists on that flight to save our anti-gay,
free, united, country that we are proud to call America. How dare anyone be
judged for who they are at such a time. I am embarrassed for each and every
one of you who does not think that we are all "united" under this country.
Disagreement may prevail from this last sentence. However, if we were truely
a "united" country, we as citizens would not let prejudice individuals stop
us from allowing each and every hero of that horrible day be honored. And
yet we are willing to bend the law for illegal aliens, yet we would not
supply our American citizens with compensation due to the fact of their
sexuality. I am very proud of each and every United States citizen who stood
up that day to terrorists and who saved our country. I do not care whether
they were white, black, gay, straight, catholic, jewish, or christian. I
care that they stood up to terror and whether our country wants to recognize
these gay heroes or not, I recognize them. How dare we as citizens allow
people to be prejudice in such a horrible time. How dare we! I was
extremely disgusted when i heard about this prejudice against homosexuals
once again. I hope that in the future we will truely realize that we are all
free in this country and that we can all work together as one to make this a
true United States of America.

Sincerely,

Individual Comment
