Saturday, March 16, 2002 6:22 PM 911 Fund Discrimination To whom it may concern: I am outraged over the recent decision to deny beneifts to American and Non-American citizen's affected by the unmentionable acts of September 11, 2001 based upon the sexual orientation of deceased individuals. Let it be known that millions of people and organizations that sent money did so with the idea of assisting those that were in need as a result of the attacks on our nation. I do NOT believe that when they wrote out those checks, pledged money via credit cards, etc. that they were concerned with what individuals were doing in the bedroom and in their personal lives as they sealed their pledges. If the 911 Fund begins determining rank of life based upon one's sexual orientation for compensation purposes, how much differ are they than the malicious killers that took so many lives on the 11 day of September in 2001? When you think about it...there isn't much difference. These are human lives, and yes, even fetuses, that died that day. If one is compensated, then all should be equallyed viewed as having lost something that day. Sexual orienatation does not determine one's years of guilt, grief, saddness, and agony of those that lost loved one's that day, why should the federal government. I, for one, can honestly say that if I had foreknowledge that the "fund" was going to discriminate dispersing monies to various victims based upon one's sexual orientation and look past their needs, I would have kept my dollars. I find this sort of blatant disregard for human life no better than the blantant disregard for life when those two buildings went tumbling to the ground taking many lives with it. I urge the 911 Fund to stop playing God and do what is right by the American and non-American citizens and disperse the monies as INTENDED--need for ALL those affected---and not by their own ignorance or biased selection.
