Tuesday, December 04, 2001 7:22 PM To whom it may concern! On Sept 11 2001, we were attacked because hatred, ignorance, and blind religious fervor ruled over justice, peace, and compassion. I am a Los Angeles Police Officer. I have visited the site in New York with 2 other friends from work as well. The thousands of "missing" posters in Central station brought tears in our eyes. I need to write, and let you know, that many of the people left behind, may have been either long term domestic partners...either male/female, male/male, or female/female with some of the victims that didn't make it during the attack. I have in my life, for quite a few times, lived with wonderful women...who I loved and adored. Many of these couples may also have non-biological children, who will need to be cared for. I am hoping, that in the months to come, that these victims themselves left alive without their partners, are treated as fairly as straight married couples, and biological children. Doing otherwise....would make us be acting with hatred...ignorance...and blind religious fervor...just like the enemies of this great country did on Sept 11. Thank you for your time.
