Sunday, January 13, 2002 1:56 PM Salaries One of my largest concerns about the victim compensation fund is the determination of income. I was fortunate to receive my husband's salary for the entire year of 2001. Consequently this was also my husbands largest salary to date. I feel that 2001 salaries should be considered if there is a way to determine what the total compensation would have been. My husband had taken on many additional responsibilities within his company and was fully compensated with his 2001 salary. Considering my husband would have continued to receive this salary in addition to annual increases, I feel that the income for 2001 should be considered. The second issue I have regarding the victim compensation, is in reference to the reduction of the award by the amount of life insurance your spouse may have had. I do not feel that my family should be penialized because my husband decided to purchase life insurance. It seems to me that the way the program is set up, only familes who do not have life insurance stand to benefit from the compensation program. If this is the case, I feel maybe the program should be changed to distribute equal shares of the compensation to the families without any salary considerations and deductions. An equal share for everyone regardless of their economic status.
