Sunday, March 17, 2002 11:43 PM GET REAL I received an email that informed me and many others that the partners of gay and lesbian americans killed in the Sept 11th attacks will not be afforded the same opportunity as all other mates of people killed in the attacks, including illegal aliens and unborn children. This angers me and many others greatly, and I think about the most direct and polite thing I can say is to ask the government to get real. Think about this. If it is a matter of legality, LAWS have been changed and will continue to be changed and should. ANYTHING is possible with love. Americans are americans no matter what other differences people have. ALL were heroes and should be treated accordingly. These people came down to earth with this special mission to die in such a way as to bring the world together to become stronger. Lets not dishonor that all important lesson with something as silly as a religious-fearing belief. Do the right thing, do what needs to be done and honor these people justly... I ask from the bottom of my heart. We all have ways of making this world better, and this is your chance. If we have learned anything from all this, its that we all need to come together in loving supportive ways, not discriminating some, out of fear. Thats what caused all this to begin with- fear.
