Wednesday, February 06, 2002 8:28 PM Victims Compensation I just familiarized myself with this issue after watching Mr. Feinberg's appearance on The News Hour. I am extremely disturbed and saddened by the approach taken to compensate victims . The obvious intent is to limit lawsuits and protect the Airline Industry . In the process the taxpayers are once again victimized by the cornacopian view of Federal dollars. Dangerous precedents are being set . The government has suddenly become the insurer of lives , lifting the personnal responsibility we all bear to provide for our families if we die. If this were the intent all responsible people could save plenty of money by discontinuing preniums . Mr. Feinberg trys to sell his position by siding with the victims and saying greed isn't at work I certainly don't feel any concerns for the Nation comming from those that are cpmplaining . What was driving the spokesman lawyer tonight when he concluded with his case for $2.7MM for losing his wife . Give me a break . Why would the possibility of someone receiving millions of dollars even exist? Finally , what will be the bill to the taxpayer if the terrorists are successful in killing 100,000 citizens (God Forbid but we can sense the possibility ). This compensation plan is insanity .
