Friday, December 21, 2001 4:16 PM I just want to be heard My name is and I am writing because I am appauled that my tax dollars are going to support the families of the 9/11 terrorist attacks for the rest of their lives. I thought the "Republicans" were supposed to be in charge -- you know the "anti-handout" party that suggests that opportunity in the United States be based upon your own mobilization rather than handouts from the government. This award amount is ludicrous -- I understand that it was part of the airline bailout package intended to dissuade lawsuits -- but you should have just successfully defended yourselves (ourselves) in one case, set precedent and then sent the greedy vultures out to get jobs. People die in tragedies every day, and my tax money should be intended for making this world a safer and better place, and helping all people to be able to have safe shelter, food, healthcare and education. My tax money should not be given to someone with a 750,000 mortgage to pay who needs a set of fresh, matching towels in her bathroom every season -- it should be given to make this society a better and more equal place as a whole. This is a disgrace to the American taxpayer, and a great big glob of spit on everyone.
