<text>thanks aj. ditto here. i was concerned about you and i'm glad to hear that you
are ok. as you might imagine, i have several emails to return and must choose
the impersonal route as well to effectively do so. here are some thoughts that i
had put together in a previous email. take care and please give my best to
francine, marcia and brandon...
AS YOU MIGHT IMAGINE, MY VIEW IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT LOOKING SOUTH NOW. WHAT A
SIGHT. I HEARD AND SAW THE CRASHES AND THE CRUMBLING FROM MY ROOFTOP DECK A HALF
MILE AWAY. WHAT A DISASTER. I SPENT THE REST OF THE DAY AND MOST OF THE NIGHT
WORKING AT SEVERAL TRIAGES, THE LAST OF WHICH WAS SET UP IN THE AMEX BUILDING
DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE TWINS. I CAN'T BEGIN TO TELL YOU THE SIGHTS
AND DEVASTATION I WITNESSED. BODIES AND THEIR PARTS, REMAINS OF VEHICLES AND
LARGE CHUNKS OF BUILDINGS, PAPER, AND CEMENT SOOT WERE EVERYWHERE. I WENT TO
HELP EMERGENCY CREWS REMOVE VICTIMS AND CARRY THEM TO MEDICAL ATTENTION BUT THE
ONLY THINGS THAT CAME OUT OF THE WRECKAGE WHEN I WAS THERE WERE READY FOR BAGS.
EMERGENCY WORKERS COULD NOT EVEN GET CLOSE TO THE DEVASTSTION FOR ABOUT 8 HOURS.
SMOKE AND FIRE REMOVED MOST OF ANY HOPE THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN OF PULLING OUT
SURVIVORS. THERE WILL BE A FEW BUT NOT MANY. MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE VICTIMS
AND THEIR FAMILIES. I HOPE WE IDENTIFY WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS COWARDLY ACT
AND PUNISH THEM ON A SCALE THAT WILL PREVENT THEM AND OTHERS WHO EVER THOUGHT
ABOUT DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO US AGAIN. I'M SICK OF THIS HAPPENING IN OUR
BACKYARDS. THIS TIME IT WAS MINE. SOMETIMES I WISH I WERE STILL IN THE MILITARY
SO I COULD HAVE A HAND IN THE BACKLASH. THEY WILL PAY, BUT UNFORTUNATELY NEVER
BE ABLE TO REPLACE WHAT THEY TOOK FROM SO MANY PEOPLE.

> Sorry for the impersonal nature of this e-mail, but wanted to let you know I
> am fine (physically). Francine is fine, too. Please pray for the injured
> and the grieving. Peace be with you.
