Hi Michael, I think most of us are still reeling from the devastating loss of life and destruction in your country yesterday. My heartfelt sympathies and that of my family go to every American citizen no matter where in the world they are. I pray that God will guide your Government to the right action and give everyone the wisdom, courage and strength to get through this most difficult time for your nation. We have witnessed so many terrorist attacks in Ireland and although (thankfully) none to this scale, we have not become immune to the hurt, sadness and disgust of these sick acts. There is no organisation or person in the world that can justify the cold murder of thousands of innocent people, the ripping apart of families and friends, while the world looked on helpless... it certainly put life very much in perspective for me. There has been an eerie silence in Dublin since the news broke. A strange, spooky calm has fallen on this city and its people. The first flight out of Dublin Airport is my alarm clock and it was sad and scary this morning waiting for the familiar engine sound..... it never came. As a mark of respect for the people who lost their lives yesterday, Friday will be a day of National Mourning in Ireland. America has always been our neighbour, friend and even saviour, such a show of respect is appropriate I think. Everything I said is a gross understatement of the horror, shock and fear that we are feeling in Ireland over this unforgivable terrorist act. I hope that Americans can take comfort that justice will be served, whether in this life or the next. Our thoughts are with you all at this time. Michelle.
