Dear CPL net, I thought you all might be interested in how important your email service was to me and my family yesterday and today. My daughter works at Salomon Smith Barney in New York City some ten blocks from the World Trade Center. My son goes to college in New York City and his dorm is 2 blocks from the WTC, across the part. Both were very close to the disaster yesterday. Both saw it all from their windows. Both were evacuated. Both are alive, thank you. Though considerably shaken. They were able to walk to Brooklyn where my daughter has her apartment. Anyway, our AT&T telephone service did not work yesterday or today (until a few minutes ago), giving us the "All circuits busy" message all the time. However, I was able to communicate with my daughter via email. She left SSB with her lap top and emailed me from cafes and her home. We were able to help my son get out of Manhattan--he was able to call out collect to me. All are safe. We probably exchanged two dozen emails yesterday and more today through SSB's server and of course through you. By the way, I could not get email through MS Network, with whom my son has his email acct. Thank you, CPL.net!
