NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I'll never forget the sickening feeling I had when I first heard the news over the radio. I was driving on the LIE heading to work, almost immediatly I knew it was not an accident. My brother worked at Tower One on the 74th floor,so an overwhelming panic came upon me. I scrambled to call whomever I could to find my brother, all while still driving, crying and listening for further news. When news of more planes and crashes came through I just wanted to turn around and be with my family, thinking this is the end of the world. But I kept going to work. I hadn't heard from my family for what felt like an eternity. I felt as if I was in a dream, I watched the TV in the waiting room at work with the patients, all of us crying. Another friend at work hadn't heard from her father and cousin who worked in Tower Two. When my call came in that my brother went into work late that morning an overwhelming feeling of elation came over me, while at the same time greif and sorrow for the co-worker and thousands of others. I still wanted to be at home with my children and husband. My brother told me later that his daughter kept him up late the night before and he missed his usual train (he would have been sitting at his desk at the dreded time) Now I know that Guardian angels are out there. My brother missed the last bombing at Tower One in the '90's just because he felt like calling in sick that day. He did lose many co-workers and executives at his business that were at their desks.
