I had just arrived at work inside the Chevron Refinery in Richmond, CA when someone said that an aircraft had hit one of the World Trade Center's buildings. From a small television set, starting at 5:45am PDT, six of us watched the second building get hit and then with horror, we watched both fall to the city's floor. Most were in shock and disbelief; others where angry wanting revenge, and then others were scared for their own safety because they kept asking: "What's next? This place (the refinery)?" It was the first time in my life I had ever seen fear on the faces of grown men. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I still like to fly and do often but I think the biggest change is how I view things. For instance, after 9/11 there is no way I'm just going to let hijackers take a flight I'm on without a fight. Also, it was a sobering reminder that this world is going from bad to worse. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? It should be a reminder that we stupid humans can't take care of ourselves. No matter what 'peace' is achieved there will always be those, especially those taught by so-called 'religous' groups, who want to kill and destroy human society.
