NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. That tragic day started off as any other day for me. I made my way to Middle School, without a care in the world. I was the type of person who didn't watch the news, so there was no way for me to know until I got to school. Most of the students at school acted normal, but my first period teacher announced what happened that morning. I didn't think of it much, but I was shocked that it actually happened, and I thought about how brave people were that gave up their own lives to save others. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. On September 11, I got a dose of reality. I no longer felt that things like terrorism will not happen in my life time. Even now, I feel something like this could happen again. When I got home from school that day and watched the news, I felt a strong hatred for the terrorists, but later on I became more interested in why it happened. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think that all of the people that lost their lives should never be forgotten, especially the ones who died saving others. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? As I think back to September 11, I remember that I was still in 8th grade. I think that I was too young to recognize nationalism. My father is Japanese, so he did not have a strong sense of American pride, so we did not put up a flag. Now, however, I think I should have put up a flag. Although I did not put one up, my feelings about the flag has changed. Since that day I felt that a flag was much more than just a flag.
