Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On September 11th I had got that morning and sat in silence, reading a book, until I went to work that afternoon. So I had no idea what had happened earlier in the day, on the way to work I listened to cd's so I didn't hear the news stories on the radio. I remember when I was driving into Enid noticing all the cars lined up at the gas station's and wondering "What's going on? Did I miss something?" When I got to the convenience store I work at the cars were just starting to line up at the pumps. A friend of mine was in line waiting to get gas and she called me over and asked me if gas was really going up to five dollars a gallon. I told her no not that I was aware of and asked her if something had happened that I didn't know about. She said her mom called her and told her to buy gas it was going to go up because of something that had happened, but she didn't know for sure what. I finally found out from my boss and the other customers what had happened. I remember thinging "They're joking right?" and "How can this happen?" I just couldn't believe it. And we had people lined up 3 or 4 blocks down the street waiting to get gas. And I just stood there in awe at the sight of all these cars lined up and my boss in the parking lot directing traffic so there would be no fights. All night I kept thinking "This is a nightmare". Some of our competition did raise their gas prices and we didn't, so our lines got a little longer for the first 3 hours of my shift all I sold was gas and customers tried to keep my updated on the new information coming out of New York. I hope to never see anything like Sept. 11 happen again. And I'm proud to work for a company who in a time of crises didn't take advantage of people and I am Proud TO BE AN AMERICAN!
