Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: Putting on the morning coffee to brew and pouring my usual breakfast of a bowl of Cheerios that morning, I flipped on the kitchen radio to hear the morning news. My standard routine. Everything was suddenly so NOT routine. I knew immediately something big had happened, one of the WTC Towers was on fire, a plane had hit it?? I went into the living room and turned on the TV. I sat there, mouth haning open in wonderment, trying to figure out what in the world could have caused that plane to hit the tower?? My husband and our two daughters, 11 & 12, soon joined me in my wonder and confusion. Then the next one hit...... We all went on with our day, school for the girls, work for us....but a numbing haze of a day it was... Working in a very busy insurance claim office, our phones are constantly ringing. Not on that day. Who cared if their claim was paid, or if the paperwork was in. It all seemed so small and meaningless when compared to the ongoing tragedy playing out before our eyes and ears. Radios, computers, televisions, all blaring the same horrific message...America was under attack. Never before had our generation had to fear for their own national safety on our homeland. As my small family gathered around the dinner table that night, we all had a different look in our eyes..my children wondering "Why, Mommy?" "Are we safe, Mommy?" I just took their hands, and told them that we should be thankful that we were together, preparing to eat our dinner as family, when on the other side of the Country, and around the world, there were hundreds, thousands of families who would never again be able to sit down for their evening meal as one. Families permanently torn apart, forever broken. Please hold your family closer tonight. Smile at your neighbor. Help those in need. Never miss an opportunity to say, "I love you" or "I care."
