Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was working at a doctor's office at the time, with no TVs or radios. A patient called to tell us that the airplane had just struck the first twin tower. Everyone was upset, but they kept their cool, since we didn't know whether it was just an accident or terrorism. After the second twin tower and the pentagon was struck, everyone panicked. My mother-in-law called me, crying, because she was scared they would take her two sons into battle. At that particular moment, it hit me that I could lose my family. I have already lost my parents and several aunts and uncles. Now, I was afraid they would draft my husband, his brother, and also my brother. The thought hit me that my son could grow up without a father, the way I did. I was sickened. I imagined myself having to run things on my own without my husband, and I put myself in the place of the women who did lose their husbands that day. I was so grief-stricken. I could not believe that someone could hate so much that they could destroy innocent human lives, for no apparent reason. I will never forget where I was, or how I felt on September 11, 2001.
