I was actually at home sleeping whenever I had received a telephone call from my sister. She said that something really bad had happened, and that I needed to turn on the television. To my astonishment I saw before my very eyes a sign that our world would never be the same. The towers had just been hit, and there were rescue workers everywhere. I couldn't believe what I was seeing...all of those action movies had just played out in reality. My best friend had called shortly after that from college to see if I had heard the news.
The rest of the day I pretty much stayed planted in front of the television to keep updated with what was going on. Another friend of mine had called and said that gas prices were going to go up, and that I needed to go fill up my tank as quick as I could. So, I told my mom, brother, and sister, and we all headed down to get gas.
Later on that evening I spent alot of time with my family and a very close friend discussing the Bible, and how this event was foretold in it.
Mostly I spent September 11, 2001 thanking God for the blessings that I do have, and praying that He would comfort and renew hope to the people who have lost their friends and loved ones through this act of violence. I believe that through this their were good things that happened, and those things are that many people became heroes that day... many people stepped outside of themselves and became selfless. I think that although this day started out in total tragedy, it turned into what can be remembered as a day that humanity and love poured out.
