Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: On September 11, 2001, at 6:30am, my husband and I left for Reston Hospital in Reston, Virginia for a day that was supposed to be one of the best days in our lives together. I was scheduled to have an 8:30am Cesarean Section for the birth of our second child. My doctor was running late so we didn't get in to the operating room until almost 9am. We still knew nothing at this point. However, I can vividly remember her making converstation with us as she was cutting in to me saying that she heard on the way in that a plane had flown in to the World Trade Center. It did not even register with me. All I could think of was "man what an accident, didn't the guy see the building, like how could he miss it"......It just didn't make sense to me. Our son, William Calvin, was born at 9:23am. It wasn't until I was in the recovery room that my husband told me of the whole tragedy. He came in and said that both Trade Centers had been hit and had fallen and that the Pentagon was also hit. All apparently the works of terrorists. My husband and I both worked at the Pentagon for several years. We met there in March of 1994. My father, a retired Army Colonel, still works there. Luckily, he was in the waiting room with the rest of the family awaiting the birth of his third grandchild. My husband, our families and I were torn. In disbelief about what we were seeing and hearing on every news station and trying to be excited about this new little life that entered this world on a day that will now forever go down in infamy. As our son's first birthday approaches we still mourn for all of those who lost family and friends, due to such grave acts, but we have to rejoice in the celebration of our son's life which began when so many lives ended.
