Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: It started out just like any other day. My first period class was art 2. It began at 7:45 and ended at 9:10. Next, it was onto World Cultures class. As soon as I stepped through the door, it was chaos. Everybody was sitting in their seats staring up at the television. I soon learned what was going on and took a seat myself. That whole period was surreal. I didn't know whether I wanted to cry or not. All eyes were glued to the television screen. We saw the second plane hit. Then the first tower fall. Finally the second. To watch such a tragic scene on a television screen was heart-wrenching enough. I can't even imagine how the people who were actually there felt. When the bell rang at 10:34, only 5 minutes after the second tower fell, nobody jumped up from their seats to leave like they usually do. Not one single person wanted to take their eyes off of that television screen. Except for lunch and the change of class, I spent the rest of the day watching t.v. Third period English class was horrible as I watched my teacher frantically make phone calls to her family. Some of them in New York. I, fortunately, had no family members affected by this horrible day. But my heart goes out to all that were involved. Now, one year later, we are all moving on with our lives. Looking back, it is still hard to believe that such an atrocious act was committed on our country. But we recovered. As a country, we came together and helped each other heal from the sorrow and grief. We proved that we can be knocked down, but no matter how hard the blow, we will always get right back up.
