I worked downtown in Jacksonville at the Southtrust Bank building. I was at work on the morning of 9/11/01 and was trying to get into a work mode. At the time I was 4 months pregnant with my son. I was walking past my boss's office and he stepped out into the hallway and asked me "Does your husband know about this?" I, of course, wondered what he was referring to and he showed me on his computer monitor a picture on the CNN website of the first plane hitting the WTC. I then went to my office to call my husband, who works for the US Secret Service, to see if he knew about it and what he thought. He very quickly told me that it was terrorist related and that he had to go. Not a whole lot of work got done that morning while all of the other events unfolded. What a tragic day! To top it all off, our building was evacuated due to a bomb scare. The owner of our company told us all to go home. I was glad that we were able to go home. I know that I wouldn't have been able to work the rest of the day anyway.
