Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was at the beginng of my sophomore year at East Stroudsburg University. I had Physical Geology at 9 a.m. that morning. As usual I awoke at 7:30 to shower and get ready. I never turned on the t.v. because my roommates were sleeping. I left my room at approximately 8:45 a.m. to go to class. We all sat there through the whole class not even having a clue as to what was going on in New York or in Washington D.C. After my class I had a meeting to go to. I met my sister as usual before the meeting and that is when I found out. She told me that planes had crashed into the twin towers and the pentgon. I remember her mentioning something about being attacked. I did not think she was serious but she insisted she was. We went to the room where the meeting was to be held, but no one was in there. Everyone was in the office glued to the t.v. That's when I first saw the replays of the planes hitting and the first tower collapsing. I was in disbelief. We eventually had our meeting and when it was over my sister and I went to eat lunch. We both had a class at 12 (we were actually in the same class). When we arrived at class and were waiting to go into the classroom someone came in and said that classes were cancelled and the university is closed. I really did not believe that the university closed because it is very seldom that the university closes. I went back to my residence hall and asked my resident director if the university was really closed and she said yes. That's when it hit me. This really did happen. For the first time that day I was truly frightened. Everyone was calling my room- my mom, my great aunt margie, and my fiance. I was espcially worried about my fiance because he worked in Allentown, one of the bigger cities nearby. I was not sure what would happen next. Would there be another attack or was it over? For the next several months I was frightened each time I heard a helicopter landing at the nearby hospital or even a plane flying in sky.
