Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was at home watching A&E on cable TV until I had to go to work at Wegmans. I didn't know about what had happened until I got to work at about noon, and a co-worker told me. I was very surprised that there was not some announcement on the regular cable channels like A&E. The events of that day were all that everyone was talking about and the news coverage was on the TV in the break room and the one in the managers office all day. The day after I received a phone call from my son telling me that a young man, Shannon Adams, that had graduated with my other son was in the office that was struck by the first plane. When I called my older son to see if he had heard about Shannon, he said that he had, and he couldn't believe that out of a graduating class of 34 one of his classmates had been there. There was a memorial service held for Shannon held in his home town of Star Lake, NY that was attended by almost 800 people. I was unable to attend but both of my sons were able to. My oldest son, who was in Shannon's class, made the 3 hour trip from his home in Saratoga Springs for the service and drove home the same night so he would not miss work the next day. I remember watching Shannon play on the school baseball team with my boys. He was a fine young man and will be missed by all of us who had the good fortune to have known him.
